Gans... Afgans that is...
Those things flying around after the round impacted used to be people
I have a friend that was in Iraq, he's a Helicopter gunner, and htey are not supposed to use the 50cal on people, just vehicles... i guess if the round is w/ in 6" of you (a miss by 6") the concussion will still probably kill you
the barrel of the gun is big enough you can stick your thumb in it :p

That must be a new rule. I was a CH-46 door gunner instructor, which is not an occupation just a speciality that I did once or twice a month, and we shot anything that moved out that door.
I never said it was followed, just the "official" rule :jawdrop: ;)
He personally only had 3 confirmed, and said they turned into a pink froth :2purples:
That's why you dont point a weapon at a Huey :burningm:

They are mountain goats. If you look closely at the first one that gets shot at the beginning of the video you can see him laying on top of the rock with his head to the right, you can just make out his horns before he goes airborne.
And Yes "White Feather" is the man.

It looks like arms flying on the second one. Thats incredible from the distance they shot from.

I think you are right. at about 45-46 seconds in it looks like one takes a hop to the next rock before it gets blasted.

have you read his book ?once you start you don't put it down :D
I HAVE! Liked the part when he got Apachy woman and when he held down
a whole platoon? for a few days all by himself. Carlos was the man!

Yes, the Apache killing was cool. The arrogant feather is the best! Didn't he use a M60 machine gun with scope modified for single shot for a lot of his kills?
The story about the Apache and the young soldier screaming at night was horrible....she took thier manhood...ouch!
I forgot to mention that the author of his book wrote sort of a sequal to it although I can't remember what the name of it is.

The .50 Browning cartridge ... Born 1921. A 642 grain (11 to a pound) or a 750 grain (9 to a pound) bullet is available to handloaders. Velocities from 2700 FPS to 2900+ FPS. Muzzle energy is over 12,000 foot-pounds in some loads.
For comparison : A few comon "powerful" cartridge specs.
7MM remington Magnum ... 150 grain bullet (46 to a pound), 3050 FPS, 3,100 foot pounds
30-06 Springfield ... 150 grain bullet, 2950 FPS, 2900 foot pounds
375 Holland & Holland Magnum .. 300 grain bullet, 2625FPS, 4600 foot pounds
458 Winchester Magnum, 500 grain bullet, 2075 FPS, 4875 foot pounds
44 Remington Magnum (handgun) .. 240 grain bullet, 1425 FPS, 1075 foot pounds
Data from "Metalic Crtridge Reloading" and "Accurate Smokeless Powder Loading Guide #1" books,
"Grains" is the unit of measure for ammunition components, 7,000 grains to a pound. Necesarry when trying to safely controll pressures over 50,000 PSI at times. Handloaders measure to 1/10 of a grain. Picture splitting an ounce 4,540 times. :)
There will never be another to equal Long Tra'ang's "calibre". May his crosswinds always be calm now and forever. RIP Carlos.

G.S. Hathcock used a rem 700 30/06 most of the time and he held the platoon down with another guy. the .50 was use on his moving 2000yd kill with a fixed 4. He is one of my personal heros along with Pat Tillman. God bless both of em.
Somebody find out the name of the 2nd book!

I was a 50 gunner. It is against WARSAW (?) PACT to use a 50 cal or larger on people only equipment. But like my squad sgt told me, "Roos, does that soldier have a canteen?" and my reply was , "yes sgt" he then told me to destroy that equipment. :D
