Here are some pics of the boat.
The pictures really don't do the gel coat any justice.

Very funny. You obviously know how I feel about unions, and yes, I am retired. Oh, I am the original owner too.

I'm Hotlavey's son so I will try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge... The hp is somewhere in low to mid 700's give or take a few. Depending on how the weather is and the water and of coures the trim of the boat it will hit low 80's(GPS) on a pretty consistant basis. I have had it up to 86 on gps but I had the tabs up and the outside temp was in the low 90's. With the tabs down a bit you can get a great comfortable smooth ride and run 80-81mph. Hope that helps.

Yeah 100+ with this boat fully loaded is going to take alot more than just 800hp, of course if he got the poker run edition it might be possible. This boat really doesn't like to be trimmed out(loose) at high speeds, it wants to porpus abit. With the tabs just slightly down and the drive level it runs great. You may want to pass that on to him. He couldn't do any better though, it is a great boat!

Is the Poker Run edition a light lay-up with NO cabin or something like that ?

yeah, It's vacuum bagged and balsa cored along with no interior under the deck. Much like a race boat. Ours also has the lightest hull being vacummed bagged and balsa cored but we also have a fairly large stereo system, full interior under the deck, and some extremely heavy batteries. I think the poker run boat comes in 400 to 600lbs lighter than a standard 2750.

Not with the hydromotive p5x we won't. The boat hates that prop.
