I make about a 90 mile round trip commute from Riverside to Irvine everyday and have been putting a bunch of miles on my new duramax....I also have an 87 nissan sentra with 220,000 miles that is usually my driver. I need something with good gas milage and a little nicer than my nissan..anyone have any ideas on what I should get? A convertable would be nice..but then i dont want to spend a lot of $$$. used is a for sure!! :D

How much is not a lot of Money? I have a 2000 Toyota Camry that is going on the For Sale block next week, probably going to ask around $8,000 or so.

Just about anything Toyota or Scion. Look into get a VW TDI and you'll get over 40mpg.

I bought a used 1999 Altima. Mint condition and loaded! 4 cylinder so it's not that hard on gas but definately has pep when you floor it. $9600.00.
Good deals are to be found if you look.

I thought about a little truck....but I thought the milage would be less because of the gearing....30 mpg not bad!!! :D

Hmm.. I'm thinking a boxter is a bit pricey to use a daily driver. The maintenance on that thing is going to kill you.
Have you thought about taking advantage of the GM Employee pricing and get yourself a little cobalt or even an aveo? You can get a brand new Aveo out the door for around 10K. They aren't the prettiest cars on the road but they drive pretty well and do great on gas. Unleashed Deano bought one for his son not to long ago so he could probably give you his opinions on the car.

I have one we run back and forth to Havasu and as a commuter for the business , my brother in law was tired of putting miles on his Mercedez so he bought one too. They have plenty of room and for $15k, you can throw away the car at the end of its use.

I did a Honda Accord lease at $200 a month and I am getting about 30mpg.
Now I am only 7 miles from work so it is time to get a fun car! Hopefully a Z06 like Doc's.
not to hijack, but how have you been Doc? Haven't seen you around here much.
