What is the true rated Hp rating for this motor? I think it is actually 470.....Am I wrong here? Need it for NADA values.... up to 470 HP adds $2,065.00 and if it is 471-500 HP it adds $ 8,600.00

500hp motor - 30hp drive loss =470hp at prop

I think it's 470 HP at the prop shaft, 500 HP at the crank. Mercruiser specifies prop shat HP.

What should I use for NADA then 471-500

HP at the crank is what I would rate it at because that's what the motor is putting out until power goes through the drive right?

Got that engine in my boat. 470 at the prop, 500 at the engine. I had the same issue when I bought my boat, there was a pretty big difference in $$ on the Nada Guide between the 470 and 500 horses. The seller agreed with me on the 470 horses at the prop to close the deal.

If your buying, it's 470. If your selling, it's 500. :D

How do you get 30 more hp from just an air filter? From things I've seen the KN filters and the Merc filters are alomst the same.
470

Just put a Hot Boat Sticker on it, That should be worth 50HP alone!

Steamin Rice has it absolutely correct
The 525's are 500 at prop shaft, and the 575's are 550 FYI

And, for insurance purposes, the boat won't go over 65mph. :D
