I have never downloaded music from the internet before. I have searched for music downloading websites. Do they all charge a monthly fee, plus per song download? Are there any sites that I do not have to become a member and pay a monthly fee? Thanks for any help!

go to Microsofts web site and download "realplayer" it's free no charges, just $.49 for some songs $.99 for others and good prices on albums, I have had no problems AT ALL very safe and secure, there are many others out there, I just feel safer with microsoft products.

Yahoo music. You can either pay monthly and download as much as you want, or pay per song or per album. You are limited on the number of times you can burn the song to cd or mp3 though.

Who is your internet service provider? Most supplier you with a news server. If you download a news reader you can download almost any kind of music you like for free. Not any more legal than the file sharing services, but more complete, better organized. You can download mp3's if you don't mind the lossy compression. (works great as long as you are not an audiophile) or you can download .shn's which are a lossless format which lets you keep the quality. It is all pretty easy to do, you just need to down load a good newsreader such as xnews to get access to it.....oh yeah and if you are into porn the most free porn anywhere is on the news servers.

Limewire, unless you're afraid of getting caught, then I would say Napster.
Napster has a low monthly but unlimited song downloads, so if you get busy downloading and have a fast connection, you can download a sh**load of songs for very little $$$. Much better than paying per song.

"I have never used LimeWire." :notam:

Avoid Kazaa at all costs!!! Kazaa is owned by the Gator Corp, which is one of the largest spyware and spammer companies on the internet. My son lost his harddrive from a virus downloaded with a Kazaa MP3. I would uninstall it ASAP and run several good anti-spyware programs to get rid of the crap it has put on your computer.

I would stay away from file sharing systems like limewire.
Lime wire is easy, but I got a virus from that site.
Went to the doctor and he told me to put the Lime in
the cocanut then shake it all up :rollside:

I've heard from a friend that Kazaa is loaded with virusii. Limewire is where it's at, according to my friends.
Limewire gets my vote too.

I paid $35 to Microsoft one time to fix a problem, It took 4 hours to fix problem, the spyware software that was written to the registy the most was Kazaa. The lady told me do not put Kazaa back on your computer no matter what!

Sounds gay...but walmart.com .79 cents per song. Works seamlessly with Windows Media Player.

I had Kazaa, for awhile you could get anything but now you have to weed through items and takes to long to get any good quality song. The only reason ii still have it is that i paid for it a long time ago (for the Upgrade no spam etc..). But imho i would try something else. You cant even get any porn anymore. Winmix is suppose to be the best .... but i havent tried it so i cant really say. But whatever you do run antispyware and antivirus anyway. YOu never know.
