View Full Version : What is the best way to crack your own back?

I can't remember the last time I had a backrub... or had my back cracked.... i just got done cleaning.. and it is killing me... anyone know of a good way to crack your own back by yourself besides sitting in a chair and twisting side to side??? :confused:

I find the best way is to sit on the floor, cross one leg over the other (ankle to the knee) and twist into it (left leg bent over the right, twist to your left, use your right elbow on your left knee if needed) then repeat only substitue all rights for lefts and lefts for rights.

Fly to Canada..and when My girlfriend catches me on you ..the blow from the shovel will transfer through my body and send gentle ripples through yours :D :D

Don't do it. It's really not good. It's only temporary relief with long term affects. The best thing to do is relax somewhere. Where ever possible, a warm wet towel on your back would be better. Best thing though is a rub down.

I know.. normally i don't crack my back except sitting in a chair I will twist a lil.... but my back is freaking killing me.. and I don't have a man around to rub it for me :p

It's nothing like cracking your back but it should make everything feel better :D

Hey Bre,
How is it going? Goldenshower here from IL.
Being that I have a back that goes out at least once or twice a year I have learned how to crack my back to keep it adjusted. Try this
1: For lower back.
Lay out on the floot stretched out on your back . Take one, say the left leg and bend it at the knee and with your left hand push it over your right leg slowly. Allow your hips to rotate as you push your bent leg over the other. It helps if you take a deep breath before you do this and let the air out as you take the leg over. As you push your leg all the way as far as you can give a final push as your knee is close to touching the ground. You should have fully exhaled the air from your lungs at this point. I hope this all makes sense. Good luck
2: Under advise from my Chiropractor for middle back
Haven't tried this yet but I am sure it will work.
Get six tennis balls and two socks.
Put three balls in each sock.
Tie a knot in the top of the sock so the balls are held tight to each other.
place the balls in the center of your back either side of your spinal column, where you feel the discomfort.
Have someone apply pressure consistently on your chest, this is the part I would like to perform for you :D
Before they do this, take in a deep breath, Have them in position with light pressure on your chest :) :)
exhale completly. once you have exhaled completly, your helper should apply a firm quick push. They are not tryting to body slam you or break your ribs! For the most part it is like just having them allow their weight to fall onto your chest. This should do the trick. You might even be able to do this yourself, as my chiro said he can all the time. You need to be relaxed though.
3: In conjunction with these manipulations of the spine, remember ice pack and heat. If you are really tight start with the ice pack. 20 minutes at a time. then allow 30-45 minutes without the ice. For lower back it is best to do this lying on your back, with your legs up on a sofa or ottoman. The idea is to promote blood flow into the lower spinal region. Shit, I just had an idea. Try some viagra, that otta get the blood flow going! :D :D Anyhow, with your legs up and ice on the lower back you will feel immediate relief. Your muscle inflamation will subside, allowingyour adjustment to happen easier. Do not try to adjust yourself if your muscles are to inflamed, as it will not work and might make things worse. Also try an anti-inflamitory like motrin.
Good luck, I hope this is helpful. If you are having trouble with any of this you may want to consider coming to San Diego where Michelle & I can work on you together! :D If that does not work, I'll take you out on the Scarab and launch us off a few 6' waves. When we land you will fell your back crack like never before. Trust me on this one, I have adjusted peoples backs who never had back trouble in their lives. :idea:

I then hold my daughter tightly to my chest as I slowly lay back kind of like a slight roll onto my back. My daughters added weight cause's my back to crack. I'm not any kind of a doctor but it works for me. Now all the experts can post how its bad for me but sometimes my back gets so stiff its the only relief.

I then hold my daughter tightly to my chest as I slowly lay back kind of like a slight roll onto my back. My daughters added weight cause's my back to crack. I'm not any kind of a doctor but it works for me. Now all the experts can post how its bad for me but sometimes my back gets so stiff its the only relief.
My kidies are both sleeping.. but I will try that tomorrow am :)
