I walked from Regina to Moose Jaw once. It wasn't as much fun as it sounds.
I wish this guy well but I think his 6 months would be better spent training for a triathalon or somehow finding something that will keep him working up a sweat every second day for that period of time without as much impact on his skeletal system.
Anyway, I wish him well. Perhaps soon it will be, "Fit Man Walking". :)
