Anyone have any info on Ford's new Power Strokes if you do, how do you like them? I have a 1999 and I am having some issues with. Its been a great truck and I havent put a dime into it. I dont know if its worth fixing or buying/leasing a new one. All of the MFG's are offering some pretty good deals.

The good deals are on the 2005's. The 2006's are not out yet. You better hurry up if you want a 2005 Diesel. They are selling fast and there is not many around.

Actually, Ford has extended the deal to 9/6 including 06's. Chevy only offers on 05's, there are none to be found in the duramax/allison. no significant changes to the 06 Ford, but both will be changing their 07 line up.

I have a 05 Powerstroke and its a really good truck..The new coilover frontend works really good..I also have a 2000 powerstroke with the leaf springs and it rides like shiat compared to my new truck..Also the 6.0l has alot more power.I think the 06's are coming out pretty soon

check www.socaps.com for info on for diesel trucks. My the screenname is Hallett in the forum there. As for mine, it is parked in my garage (with the check engine light on and loss of power) while i go through the lemon law process with Ford. By the way, it's a 2004 F250 6.0 liter PSD......

Hmmmm, I hope it has a better reputation than the 6.0's :squiggle:
And the Chevy is about well over due for a redesign

Why would you sell what you have to take on a lot more debt? Just to have a new truck? Diesel is over 3 bucks a gallon. Save your money and just pay for the diesel not a new truck.

Great question and that is what is keeping me up at night! My current truck has been great and like I said, I haven't put any money into it and best of all its paid for. The problem I am having now is with the tranny and I was told that it could cost me anywhere between $3.5-5K to fix and I am not sure its worth it. It has been a great truck but its 6 years old and depreciating. The dealer told me what they would give me and when I look at giving to the dealer vs. selling it to a privet party after it has been fixed I don't know what to do. Its been great but I don't want my current truck to start nickel and dimming me with stupid problems.
I know a salesman and he can get me a pretty good deal (at least I think) on a 2006. But I am not sure if I should fix my current truck and try to sell it/hold onto it or trade it in to the dealer and buy a new one. Help me please!!! What do I do??

My tranny went out on my 01F350 so I bought a Suncoast Transmission. The truck has never ran so good. It pulls better than any new Ford so I'll just keep it a couple of more years. That coil spring front end looks appealing though.

only gripe I got is fuel milage sucks 14-16 mpg w/ 3:73 gears 34" tires
love the coil front springs set up
ps...they will tell you the biggest tires you can run are 285's w/factory rims and springs
Bullcrap !!! I put on a set of Goodyear MTR 305/17's and still have lots of room  315's may even fit ???

That is the exact reason I still have my 99 F350. I have looked at buying a new one so many times and just cant justify it. Even if I have to drop $5k into a new tranny (which will be soon) I still will be way ahead of the game.
And if the '07 are going to have a bigger motor and twin turbos, it looks like I will wait until then :D

That kinda scares me too. I usually like to wait a year or so after any new design comes out to that they can work the bugs out.

How much was the tranny and did you put it in yourself?
I took my truck into a local tranny shop and he recommended replacing the tranny but also replacing the radiator with the new one which has the internal trans cooler. He said alot of the early superduties didnt have the trans cooler and because the diesels never really run that hot that the fan doesnt engage to cool eveything down.
I still dont know what I am gonna do, I had another sleepless niht thinking about it.

This would be your best way. Even if you take it to a tranny shop and have them put it in. When it's time to put a tranny in my 2002 350 it will be a Suncoast. Also one of the week links in our trannys are the converter.
And yes go to http://www.thedieselstop.com/ and go to the fourms for the year of your truck and you will find everything you need to know about it.

I have an 05 F350 CC Diesel Dually 4x4, I have had no probs with mine except for the dealer guys detailed it with either a dirty pad or a crappy wash job. Needless to say its at a body shop right now and they are having to color sand and buff the ENTIRE paint job on my truck Oh yeah its black so if it aint perfect when they are done ITS new paint and clear coat time

I just got an 06 Crew Cab 4 x 4 PSD 6.0. I'm suprised at how well it rides for a big truck and the brakes work really well too. It has 2000 miles and I'm getting 15 mpg. Now if the diesel gas would come back down we'll be set. :boxed:

FWIW,
I lost the trans in my '01 diesel SD crew at 99K miles. It was running fine, parked it and the next morning no go - second gear was gone. I took the truck over to Corona Trans off the 91 @ 6th St/Maple.
$2600 bucks and done in three working days for my trans rebuilt with the older, more reliable design cone clutch. Was working great when it went away @ 137K for an '05.
Me likey! :)

I love my '05 F-350 CC PS Dually, the truck is awesome! It pulls my 12,000lbs of boat and trailer like they are not even back there!
The '07's will be just that much more awesome!

That Suncoast Tranny is about 4K. Labor is extra.
