Need tire info on P vs LT rated

Time for new tires on the 03 Avalanche 4x4 Z-71. Stock tires were Goodyear AT's which are P rated, P265's.
Seeing I will only tow about 5,500 Lbs I am not sure it is worth giving up the ride to go to LT265's just for theload handling? I do want to stick with an AT of some sort.

based on GM's tire source web-site that Goodyear AT p265/70/17 is the recommended tire :wink:
An LT tire in a 17 (if avail?? they don't even list an LT as one of my options) would be WAY more costly

LT usually have a higher weight rating on them and in my opinion make the vehicle drive better, because they have a stronger sidewall. They will give you a slightly rougher ride though.
