The world's biggest automaker also plans to apply the discount to select 2006 full-size trucks and sport utility vehicles, said spokeswoman Brenda Rios. The program lets customers buy vehicles at the employee rate.
Anyone know which Full Size Trucks? I test drove an '05 Duramax CC on Friday night, they had some upgraded package on it that pushed the discounted price to still ove $50K. Wonder if this will include the '06 Duramax's???

Ouch! You better talk to Jay. The 05 Duramax CC should be around 40k.

With diesel over $3 per and gas quickly approaching it you can be sure all of GM's 2006 trucks and SUVs will be on the employee discount plan. If it sucks gas/diesel it'll be discounted :rollside:

Does anybody really stop and wonder why the employee's discount just keeps being extended on and on and on and on....
geeze I thought it was supposed to end months ago.
It couldn't be because nobody will buy gas guzzling hogs once the discount ends, could it?

Is there anywhere on the net where it shows which 2006 vehicles are now included in the discount? The GM Buy Power site doesn't say a thing about the extension or the inclusion of 2006's.
Read the news on Yahoo though

What dealer were you at? California? I heard there weren't any 2005 duramax's left in California. Also, I understand that the employee prices are not good on 2006's. I did find a dealer that will give you invoice price if you order a 2006 before 09-06-05.....

Quality Chevrolet in Escondido, teh package was something that they were calling the "REGENCY", it had upgraded Leather Seats, and a few other things, the addition itself added $16K to the Price, cheapest they said I could get out of the dealership for was $50K, that is a whole lot of money for a Truck...

Still need to ditch the Escalade though.

Photoglu HELP
I bought the 05 Z 71with the 5.3 HO motor (310hp) with 4:10 gears. It is a dog off the line. I kinda scares me to cross a busy 4 lane road because it takes off so lazy. At rpm it has a shitload of power though. The service tech is trying to tell me that it is a common complaint and it has to do with the flyby wire and there is nothing he can do about it.
My last Z 71 has 3:73 gears and 285 horses and and I had to be carefull not to break the tires loose. Is this service tech right and if he is do you know if remapping the computer or chip will help?
Thanks for any help. I am really spazing here!

Chip it. Mabey exhaust and air cleaner. I do notice that the traction control on our 05 z71 tahoe does slow the down the tire peeling. Do you have a switch like I do?

No I dont have traction control. Just a serious lack of power from a dead stop. With the HO motor and 4:10 gears should just leap out there but it just kinda slowly takes off. No miss or anything like that though.

Sounds like a chip would help. Chevy has a govener on my sub with the 8.1 and 4le80 trans so you don't fry the trans from a stand still. I know that's the week link in most chevys. What your looking for is some more torque. Chip, exhaust and a K&N should help quite a bit. Strange though. My wifes z71 tahoe is pretty responsive off the line especially when the traction control is off.

Without driving it I can not tell you for sure.... I have noticed a decrease in power low end, but I don't know how bad yours is.... I think the Hypertech or Superchips like the others are saying is a great idea... roughly $350.00

my 05 crew cab with the 5.3 and 3:73 gears gets off the line quite nicely?
It will barely scratch but it is still moving pretty good for a 5,000lb vehicle.
I wouldn't expect yours to be any faster but it shouldn't be any worse.
The throttle by wire is deffinatley different than the 00-02 trucks in the throttle response department.

So there is some truth to what the tech told me. I believe mine is worse than what seems to be the norm. Now I at least have a better idea where to go from here.

He is right I have been a gm tech for 10 plus years and it has to do with the tac module, or drive by wire as most call it. we have had a ton of concerns with it and it is a normal condition. It also primary takes the shock load out of the drive line from a dead stop. Just be happy that you don't have 3.23 diffs.....

Thanks for the info. Would getting a chip or remapping help? If so any warrnty issues that I will need to deal with. This makes me wish that I had not bought the truck. It needs help. My neighbor hood pulls out into a very busy 4 lane that I have to cross. Makes my nuts pull tight sometimes! :D

There is no "chip" involved anymore, its all done through programming. If the reprogramed computer is visable to a gm scan tool forget about certian aspects of your warranty. just an fyi...
