Since my Denali was ripped off last week I'm looking for a new truck. I found a suburban 3/4 ton with the 8100 motor in it. I know the milage wont' be good but does anyone know what they get? Thanks

Sorry to hear about the Denali. The suburban will pull it great. The mileage will be almost exact compare to your Denali.
I had the 6.0L gas and my parents had a 8.1L Sub, and now the Avalanche 8.1L and it seemed our mileage was within 1-1.5 of eachother.

Thanks Mike. The Sub will be a gap vehicle until I can figure out what to do. Hope you and family are doing good.

I don't have a Sub but I have a 2500HD P/U, I get about 9.5mpg around town and about 13.5mpg Highway, it drops to about 12 Highway when Towing. It will pull a house but and has never found a Gas Station it didn't like...

I have a 05 8.1L on 22's the computer shouws and ave of 11.2 and it is about 10% off (due to tire size) so 12-12.5 is my guess

Thats about what I thought for mpg. Any idea when the 07 diesel will be available?

I'm getting around 8 MPG around town. I just put 4.56's in it (for towing), so my highway probably won't be much above 12 MPG. :supp:

Just make sure it has the allison trans behind that motor and you won't be disapointed except for the mpg. had one it pulled great .Traded it for a Crew cab diesel.

The allison is not avaliable in the sub. I have a 03 2500 sub with the 8.1. It tows pretty well and gets about 12 mpg on the highway and 10 towing. I put a chip in it to change the shifting points. The stock program shifts early and bogs the power alittle. Over all it's a good tow vehicle. I tow our 29 shockwave up chiraco summit doing 65-70 mph. It's all how you drive it. I'll be selling mine in Oct-Nov. this year to get a new Duramax HD CC with the LBZ engine.

I checked with my dealer ,and he said it is avalible on a special order. They started it at the end of 03. The state agencies kept asking for it so they made the provision.

I've got an 05 3/4 ton with the 8.1 and 3.73 gears, I get almost 13 going to Havasu while NOT towing. I might be exceeding the speed limit as well.

With the cost of diesel being so high I don't see it (the Diesel Sub) being worth the added expense unless you are going to be pulling a huge trailer or boat. Plus, I am sure they will be going for full-pop for at least the first 6 months.

The gas mileage? I know you know where I got my suburban. That's what the computer tells me I averaged last trip, 12.7 MPG.
