I heard throught the grapevine that they did a massive lay off a couple weeks ago.(30+ people)
My souce was telling me that they are pretty much done since there supplier decided to fawk them over.(They don't have the ability to make there own headunits/rotors)

Ford is F'ed too because the GT has a blower with Lyshom screws too. They are scrambling for a replacement unit.

Whipple never had 30 people working there...

whipple has addressed this issue in other posts...hopefully dustin or art will respond here....b.s. on the 30 people...
lyshom has indeed f'd over many of their end users/converters. i got lucky earlier this year when i needed some 2.3 compressors. dustin and kieth at whipple really came thru and helped me out. i have been on the wrong end of the "single source" before in manufacturing and it can really hurt. hopefully the whipple crew can second source and/or get lyshom to step up.

sorry about the hearsay.......
That is what I heard but from the sounds of it my source was only half right.
Hopefully it works out for them so they can continue to make more go fast goodies.

Well....
The did layoff some people a few weeks ago.....
The are currently working on the development of their own compressor....
They got the first run of rotors in a few weeks ago and are working as fast as they can...
Once they are in charge of their own product, things will be better!!
I'll call Dustin right now and have him respond.....
Always better from the horses mouth.....
Later,

Well, I have a set of 2.3's, anodized black compressors for EFI. I will let them go, cheap! $3K for both and I will throw in a top manifold and adapters for side draft Webers - great conversation starters with old boat dudes.

Stupid question of the day: could those run independantly. i.e. I put one on my 7.4 and my buddy uses the other on his 502???

Yes, but that is all the parts I have. They need everything else. Since there seems to be a shortage, I should be taking bids any second now.....
Any second......

I believe that Whipple has everything in stock other than the key component that they don't manufacture (the compressor). The other stuff being the accessories and mounts and all the other trivial stuff. Just another thread that makes ya Shonda, I mean wonder. Too bad the first big Whipple thread isn't around anymore. Personally, I'd talk to Carson Brummet and look for some turbos, but then again, that's just me and what do I know. ;)

I'd dump all the obsolete Whipple stuff I have.
But I don't have any so I won't buy any. :chi:

Thank you for the few that really do care. We have had a very difficult time with the supply shortage, so have the other vendors. I would love nothing more to go into detail of why we were nearly 3000 compressors backordered but at this point, my hands are tied.
We had 36 employee's during April of 2004, we now have far less than that, approx 9-15 depending on part-time, etc. We did not have a mass lay off, we have made small cuts when it's been required. Were certainly not "all but done," we are here for the future and are taking this unfortunate situation to make some key changes and in the end, we will be better off.
We will have product around October, November and will begin fulfilling all the back orders, which is quite extensive. We will be able to service the old products so customers should not have "obselete" componets. I can't get into many details at this point, but there are many new things happenning and some very revoloutinary products that will be coming to market.
There have been many rumors, virtually all false.
Thanks,
Dustin

We won't actually have a booth this year, all $$ is tied up in other areas. We will be displayed heavily in the Ford booth though, so look for us there. They have some great new packages that we have worked together on.
Thanks,
Dustin
