Ok,
We went to Lake Powell towards the end of June..........the water was up about 50 feet
We had a houseboat, a pontoon boat, two Kachina's and a Sea Ray
It was cloudy to start..............(In fact I kept a sweatshirt in the boat at all times, just in case)

I love the Canyon. Those easyups don't look like they offer much shade.

Lake Powell is like a pilgramig........there is always a storm, something always breaks and there is somehow drama.....but the lake is sooo beautiful, it is totally worth it. :clover:
We usually stay at Lone Rock beach in our RV, this was our first time in a houseboat....it was different...Scream loved the poker games, and we had our own chef....plus you can't beat waking up,jumping in your boat and going sking first thing in the morning :D
Anasazi canyon is my favorite place, don't have any pics though

We did a family thing a few years ago, when the lake was up a bit, and moored in Gunsight. Had some of the greatest thunder and lightening shows ever seen, rattled our teeth. Used the Halletts for day touring of all the canyons, caves and coves we could find for 5 days. Glad Powell is comeing back, but at the expense of Mead, its currently down 90 feet. Thanks for showing the pictures, brought back great memories...

The people we were with were NOT use to thunderstorms. So there I am LOVING the lightning and thunder and rain and flashfloods, just being very grateful I'm not ON the water (as we have been before) and they are all nervous, harshing my mellow!! :lightsabe We saw such increadible storms.
Lake Mead is down 90 feet? WOW, how low was it last year? I thought with all the lakes coming up, Lake Mead would as well. That is too bad. We use the Kachina to run up to dangling rope and Anasazi Canyon....my idea of a good time is to be running in my boat, NOT sitting on the beach. I think Anasazi Canyon is the farthest up lake I have been on Powell.

We have a trailer up on that lake and it is a great lake. :D

It's a once in a lifetime experience.....June is nice, if you miss the thunderstorm week (we caught it this year, but the folks that own the boat said they NEVER have weather like that) July is nice and hot, if you go toward the end of July or August, you will hit Monsoons (not fun) I've heard September is spectacular :D

Glad you guys had a good trip. I like T-storms too, as long as I'm not stuck out on the water. As long as we can find a nice cove.

Exactly, I was completely at ease.
We were anchored in a cove.....all the same the driver had to get into the houseboat and gun the engines to keep the boat straight sometimes....our sandy anchors would give, JUST missed our friends boat one time as it swung to the side.
I LOVE thunderstorms, as long as I'm not on the water (I've been there, done that)
Next vacation pics an stories from Lake Mohave/Park Moabi :p
