Help!
Scream left this "card" looking device with an antenna. We have plugged it into the mother board. (of our sons computer) He told us it was a wireless internet (thingy, ok, he didn't say "thingy" but I can't think of the word)
so, we've plugged it in and.........................the little light on it won't come on......(there is a picture of a man holding a gear on it)
Any idea's how to install this?
I think we've plugged it in wrong.........as soon as my camera charges I can send some pics of the card ;)

Yes, it said new hardware found, but it wanted to connect to the internet to install it, and we can't connect to the internet yet (I don't think) There is no software with this "new hardware", it's quite new as is the tower.......

I don't think it is "brand new" I think Scream brought it home from work, when he replaced the one there?!?
ok, so I will try the internet thingy......how do I tell how big the modem is......it's asking about the number/connection speed?

OK, that may be the problem. There is no "internet port". It's PCI. Your computer should only have two different slots on the MB, PCI and, possibly, AGP. They're not the same size.
what does pci mean?
the tower has lots of slots(model 7240m)

Here's your driver.

Thank you, but I don't want to download this onto my laptop....I don't think we have it in the right port, there are four ports this card could fit into, how do I know which one to use?

we've repluggede the card into the slot and now that i know what type it is, I should be able to select it from the wizard, right? I know you don't like the wizard, but I think he is my friend and will let me search for the driver :D

No, the wizard will not find the driver, because it's not on your computer.
oh, should I install it as new hardware?
(p.s. the wizard sucks)

Debbolas

Shockwave - you sound like you know your thing around computers. Next time be sure to ask her what os she is running. If she is running xp or win2kpro chances are the drivers are preloaded when windows is installed. If she would have followed the on screen prompts when it found new hardware, you would of found out that xp was able to install the driver out of its database. Just an FYI.
See Ya

You're done! :D :D
OOOPS, nevermind. Even if you get connected, you might want to update to the latest version driver, just in case.
Nice patience there bob
