Why do boat builder make the models so close in size? Take Cobra they have a 26 and a 27, which one to choose. The 26 weight is 3,800lb with a 22 degree V and the 27 weight is 4800lb with 24 degree V. I think the 26 is about 5mph faster with the same hp. :(
That sure seems light for those sizes.

Two different target types of water conditions, I suppose. I wouldn't dream of taking a 26' 3800lb 22° boat on LOTO during a weekend. But 27' 4800lb 24° is close to being able to handle LOTO washing machine water conditions.
Just my theory as to why...

Personalyl, I'd go with the deeper V. More versitle, can run on more lakes and the ocean. Cobra appears to be making a really tight boat these days. Good luck with your decision
