I am replacing a set of Clarion 6.5's cause one is distorting. Just have an aftermarket head unit for now. May add an amp later. What's the best 6.5 for around $50-70 a pair? Want something with as much bass as possible in a 6.5 speaker.

not much that is "good" at that price. Check out Ebay or talk with ROZ.....he can steer you in the right direction. If you're ever gonna put an amp in there I'd step up and spend a little more...... You can barely get a pair of Jensen's from Kragen for $50.
Just my $.02.......good luck.

Don't want to sound like a tight ass but I've been lookin at sonicelectronix.com and onlinecarstereo.com and it seems like they have some good quality speakers in that range. Don't want to get too high quality of speakers if I don't have an amp. Sometimes high end speakers sound like crap if their not amped.

Try the Infinitys.

You can get some Diamond Audio M361i coaxials for a little more than that from Sonix. You can go wrong with Diamond.
Agreed, but I could be bias.

for around 80 dollars you could pick up a set of Arc Audio KAR6022 --- they are actually a pretty nice driver and the grilles bolt on, they do not just snap on

Staying below 100 bucks, you are not going to get much, unless you can find some upper end ones on EBAY from someone for that amount. Around $125 is entry-level for the quality lines and $150-250 is the mainstream. You get what you pay for.

I agree with the statement you get what your pay for.
If you can part with another bill or two - I highly recommend the JBL GTi's. Pricey but totally worth it.
They take a butt load of power without distortion (150 watts RMS but can take more than that). Very strong and accurate midbass. Very bright, detailed, and accurate highs but not harsh.

I have heard these do quite well. JBL has always been known for being pretty stout. Their original 6X9 3-ways back in the day ('84-'85) were loud, crisp, and indistructable.

JBL really put alot into their GTi line. They are head and shoulders above anything they've put out in years.
The GTi' subs are incredible. Easily on par with JL W7's. I would have gone with these in my boat but they need a lot of power (not the most efficient for a boat system unless your running a gen).
Their 12's can easily take 1200-1500 watts without breaking a sweat. I've heard one 12 in a ported enclosed powered by a JBL 2200.1 sub amp. By far the best sounding and loudest single 12 I've heard to date.
