Sorry, I don't touch Charger games, bad mojo. My huge locks of the week are Seattle, Dallas and Philly.
Hmph...
Seattle & Philly I like. Don't see Dallas as a "lock " though.

I really like the Giants -3. But it's so hard going against my St Louis Homies.

My leanings are as follows..
Giants -3 (StL)
New England -5 (SD)
Philly +2.5 (KC)
Oakland -3.5 (Dallas)
Honorable Mention:
JAX -4 (Denver)

Go with your gut. This game will not be that close. The Rams haven't stopped anybody through the air this season. McNair doesn't toss that lollipop to Archuleta and the Rams are 1-2.
Don't remind me. :hammerhea

boxscore

I would stay far away from that Jax game. Denver's defense is very good. Leftwich is hurting and has not been sharp this season. I'd also lean away from NE.
That's the insight I'm looking for. Thanks!

I'd really look strongly at Seattle, Philly and Dallas. I think the Cowboys are going to pummel the Raiders. I don't think it will even be close.
The only reason I picked the Raiders is because their at home.

I'm an "old-school" Niner fan, but I'd seriously think about taking Arizona and giving 3, even if Josh McCown is at QB.
The Niner secondary, which has been shaky the first three weeks of the season, is now in major disarray.
Mike Rumph was a bust at CB his first two seasons. He was recently moved
to safety. He was just moved back to CB to cover for Michael Adams, who was a bigger bust. He hurt himself in practice yesterday, and is gone for the season. Ahmed Plummer, the most experienced and expensive CB is gone for 6 weeks with an injured thumb.
Picture this - Cardinal WR's Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald going against Niners Shawntae Spencer, Tony Parrish, and two guys from the practice squad...
Who are you going to take given the situation ?
Niners went 2-14 last year. Guess who the two wins were against ? Phoenix in overtime. Cardinals might have something to prove.
But then again, I wouldn't bet the house on Phoenix..But maybe a couple of $$$'s...

BTW, the line has just been set for Baltimore/NYJ. It's Baltimore -7. The problem with Baltimore covering a 7 point spread is that they've scored 17 points this season. :D
The Jets don't have a QB so they brought Vinny T back who was retired as of earlier this week. Balt might not score points but I am not sure if the Jets will either.

I'm familiar with the situation, that's why there was NL on the game for three days. The Jets should be fine with Vinny, Pennington was just awful in his three games and they managed to put up some points. FTR, I like the Jets to cover.
I am not saying you are wrong, I just didn't know if you knew about the situation.

Corrections to yesterday's Niner post.
Ahmed Plummer is out for 6 weeks due to surgery to remove a bone chip from his ankle. He will be replaced at CB by Frankie Middlebrooks. Middlebrooks was cut by the Niners at the end of preseason. He goes from unemployed to starting CB in the NFL in one week. This may be an improvement, since the experienced and expensive Plummer was most recently seen giving up the go-ahead TD and 2 point conversion to Keyshawn Johnson on successive plays last week.
Shawtae Spencer, most recently seen chasing Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn to the end zone, is the other corner.
Michael Adams, most recently unimpressive at CB, was moved back to his natural position, safety, where he can continue to impress no one.
The only bright spot in the group is Tony Parrish, but he can't cover everybody.
Rashaun Woods, a high draft pick last season who spent most of his time on IR, injured his thumb in practice this week. Considering he was inactive nearly all of this season due to "coaches' decision", his loss won't impact the point spread.
So, who has the home field advantage in Mexico City !!
Vamos, Cuarenta y Nueves !!
Injuries to veterans Jonas Jennings and Jeremy Newberry are impacting the OL.

It ain't the most simple of tasks! I was 3-1 this week. Looks the like the Chargers are really really really for real. They accounted for my loss this week in the pool. .... season long pool, 4 picks /wk, winner take all.

Some picks:
Take San Diego with 5 points
Take Cincinnati giving up 10 points
Take Tampa Bay giving up 7 points
Take Buffalo
Take Atlanta giving up 5.5 points
1. San Diego pick was right on
2. Bengals won but didn't cover the spread
3. Tampa Bay won but didn't cover the spread
4. Buffalo lost
5. Atlanta pick was right on
So, I picked four winning teams, two correct picks. Not bad but not a money winner, sorry.

Well, I hate to say that I was right...
Every seven or eight years, the Niners play on my birthday.
Last time, Steve Young was the QB, and the Niners got schooled by Philly
40-8.
Last night was an embarassment. Fortunately 2-3 Waboritas effectively managed the pain.
Next week, the Niners face Payton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and Co...
The point spread should be astronomical, but I'd consider giving the points until the Niners prove they can score (no offensive points in 5+ quarters), or stop anybody...

Mike Nolan might as well bench Tim Rattay and play Alex Smith the rest of the season. I think Nolan is starting to realize what he walked into. They might as well right off the season and get Smith in there for experience.
Get the guy some playing time NOW. Why do it later like next year or something? Get him in there, let him get experience, and build the team around him.
That game was sad. The 49ers just got worse and worse as that game went on. Except defense, they had to play the whole game. :hammer2:

HCS -
A little more drama for the next Niner game -
Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison tied the NFL record yesterday for the most touchdown passes between a duo w/ 85 TD's..
They are currently tied with Steve Young and Jerry Rice.
Does anybody else think they'll own the record outright next Sunday night ?
Re: Alex Smith - my concern, shared by a lot of media types and fans in the Bay Area, is that Smith will take a tremendous beating while learning on the job. Jeremy Newberry's knees are a game-to-game proposition. Kwame Harris was a bust at LT, and is not much better at his natural position, RT. Jonas Jennings was way overpaid for a FA, and is now injured. He was supposed to solve the problem at LT. Anthony Clement, who played last night, looked like a matador or a turnstile playing in Azteca Stadium...

Alex Smith is not ready to play in the NFL. Neither is Tim Rattay, but nobody drafted Rattay #1 overall or cares if he gets killed during a game. :D
I see the 49er's took my advice. Alex Smith will start this weekend. :D
