just got my mercury recall

What is the recall about???

the letter,wife has it,,,basically it said the cover may interfere with a steering bracket inside thus cause it to bind or get hung up.It said dont operate the boat until a merc serv center inspects it,legal stuff...

shorten version.....owner of a boat powered by mercury mercruiser engine/sterndrive package built with either a bravo x or xr sterndrive that is subject of a US federal boat safety act recall and requires a back cover replacement.The backcover in question may be making contact with the shift lever link bar,which could cause the shift system to fail.,,,,merc dealers have been notified by way of merc service bulletin 2005-01 and or merc racing bulletin 2005-02.......thats it!.By the way i have 2005 merc parts
