GOD, COUNTRY and USC
I Got Trojan Football
I Say I Know You
And You Know Me
Come Together Right Now
October 15, 2005
11 Men of Troy and 11 Men of Notre Dame,
Notre Dame 31 USC 28
80,795 screaming fans, Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, Indiana
4th and 9, 92 seconds and 74 yards of Tall Green Grass that determines the Definition of GREATNESS, that establishes the return of a Dormant Program, and ensures the next National Champion and Heisman of which all combined produces the best College Football Game known to mankind.
A Will to Win and A Refusal to Loose
That decision was made by 11 guys wearing white jerseys. It came down to one play, you were either the greatest team in modern history or not. Those 11 made that decision all of them in that 30 seconds between downs. They went big man on big man, man to man and rose to the next level as individual athletes and as a team. They went into the heart of the defense, took the best they could give them and out competed them. Great teams rise to the Challenges. There was no trick play, no great play call, there was no missed assignment or open man to throw to. The blitz was on, the receiver was covered and greatness revealed itself.
It didnÂ’t matter what proceeded next, the will to win was established and the belief was ingrained. USC was not going to loose. They were invincible and even the Man on the Wall recognized that. Sheer determination and complete belief pushed that team down to the end where decisions are made, winners win and losers loose. A competitor knowing the time, the situation competed to putting the ball out of bounds to stop the clock. A competitor and a team making the decision to finish and win, lets make no mistake what happened on the last play, it was the tight end and the offensive tackle that rose above and out competed their opponents by manhandled the defensive end and defensive tackle to allow the room for number 11 to score. This will stand forever in the history of the game that this teamÂ’s and QuarterbackÂ’s decision took in upon themselves to score and win. That is true greatness.
It was inevitable.
It just didnÂ’t matter where the ball was, the distance, the down, the time, penalties, the crowd, USC was wining that game. That is the difference between, BCS Champions, National Champions, Super Bowl Champions, World Champions and everybody else.
That display of athletic ability and leadership to win may never be witnessed again by perhaps the greatest college quarterback in the game and the best of all time - running back in the history of the game along with the greatest college football team in modern era.
No team this year or in the last 100 years could of gone into Notre Dame with 4th and 9, 92 seconds left behind by 4 points and beat that Notre Dames Team that was on that field that day with the emotions, inspiration, coaching, outstanding play and leadership displayed by the Irish during those previous 58 minutes and 28 seconds on Saturday afternoon could of, would of, or did what USC did.
And that is why we are the greatest college football program in the NCAA surpassing this year the team that we beat with our 12th National Championship upcoming and our 7th Heisman Trophy Winner. There is no team in the NCAA, in South Bend, Ann Arbor, Norman, Birmingham, Miami, Tallahassee, Omaha, and Columbus that can match those feats of the University of Southern California Football Program. We have separated ourselves from the rest and
“… sent the clear message that The University of Southern California's Football Team was in town and that today will end in Pain for you and your Team and your fans and your school”
“That USC was here and we are taking everything you have”
Marv Goux
Assistant Head Coach USC
Now for those 2,500 or so of Notre DameÂ’s finest fans that rocked, spat and cussed our players as they went to walk thru practice on Friday afternoon on the campus of the esteemed largest Catholic University in the World, as well as those out of the closet Notre Dame Fans that have no association with South Bend or the University except their Catholic up bringing and all those over paid glorified story tellers who either never played the game or won a championship that wish to whine, bitch, or make up excuses. Go on and put on your pleated plaid skirts and high white sox and carry your guilt trips to your nuns, girl friends, and priests. YOU GOT BEAT.
We are all eternally grateful that the Vatican and the Pope had its representative there to survey its future issues in the flock and to witness the NBC cash cow coffers first hand, to reassure capital for payments to all those current and future lawsuits.
Pack those De LaSalle High School Green Jerseys away and cut your Grass, you donÂ’t want another former 49er alumnusÂ’s school coming in there to show up that sacred soil and upset Joe, he is on the band wagon you don't want him to jump off. How many more Mormons does the world really need?
For future reference if you are going to do Green Jerseys can you do Kelly Green, and donÂ’t forget the wooden horse next time and maybe you can ask the NCAA, which you own for a three week bye.
Have you put any thought about that having long grass makes you and your team slower then you actually are. The only time one of your players could by himself not hit, tackle, but lay a fingertip on Reggie Bush was in the End Zone after he slowed down in time for you to catch up and take a couple of cheap shots at him, but hey its in South Bend and, the away team had three more total penalties then the home team and that is what is expected in South Bend.
Can we get a couple of those nuns out there to crack a couple of rulers and teach some of you a lesson – don’t talk a big game if you cant back it up- you will be either be called on it or be a Bruin the rest of your life.
We took every thing you had and BEAT YOU at YOUR GAME in YOUR PLACE under the BEST CONDITIONS you could of asked for.
And now you know without a doubt who your Daddy is
Now repeat after me “Our Father who art ……
Amen

Of course there is the penalty of Bush pushing Leinart into the end zone that was not called.

Of course both teams got flags their way! Thats the way it goes! Props to the domers they fought hard. USC really didn't play well. Two scores for the irish aided by calls where by those penalties against USC changed everything. Instead of being 4th down and the irsh forced to punt resulting in change of possesion to USC the irish were lucky and the penalty estended their drive resulting in touchdowns. With out those penalties the irish only score 17 points total and maybe the TROJANS have two more touch downs.
Maybe could have should have doesn't count! The score and the drama made this contest an exciting one. The only thing that could cheapen it is if either the domers or the TROJANS lose a game this year. The domers have Tennenesee to face and we have cal and fucla.
All in all the greatest intersectional rivalry in college football.....USC v Nortre Dame!
Fight On!
