If its got a computer, I would´nt mess around have it hooked up. Fuel Injection?
One quick thing to check might be the fuel filter or pressure regulator.
Just a couple of ideas....
Good Luck.

Some people have had problems with the inlet to the fuel pump plugging up and causing a surge at part / full throttle. Have you had it serviced recently? If not, could be the filter itself.

the other thing is that if you change the filter you have to run it again... and you may have got some dirt past the filter......... however sometimes it may just be as simple as you didnot have enough oil in the pan and the warrning thing hit the comp and would not allow it to rev up to what it should have soo , start with the filter, thats what it sounds like to me ok .. good luck

I've experienced this before.
I'd change the fuel/water separater, Make sure to fill the new one with fuel before putting it on.
Hopefully this works.
