keep or kill ***boatpics???

Well, we are getting ready to roll into another year and I am trying to figure out once again if it is worth it to keep the hotboatpics.com site up or not. I pay the bill for the site each year, not a huge cost but around $700.00 for the year because we use an insane amount of bandwidth. When I started the site it was so we would all have a place to post PICS that might not be appropriate on this or other sites but I have noticed in the last year there are a lot of non boating PICS being posted. I really dont mind this as long as most of the people who are doing this posting are part of the boating community in some way but I don't want to just be a free for all "free pic posting site" for random pictures of your garden or stuff like that. so here is my question do you guys still use it? Thanks for the input.

I use it admittedly not as much as others do. And I would donate to help cover the cost of upkeep as well.
Just post your PayPal address.
Maybe new members verify themselves through you and you can check against a screen name??? I dunno, just a thought.

I use it when my camera and computer are both working, and very much appreciate having it there...great site :D

I use it as my sole source for posting pics unless I can hotlink from the website :D I'd kick in a few bucks to help out. After the disaster we had on the image forum here :( I use it very sparingly :devil:

I use it quite often myself but since I'm familiar with bandwidth, I remove pics every so often......just delted a couple of pages worth last night. I'm also more than happy to kick in to a pot to keep it going.
That's even after you deleted a few pages of mine a couple of years back :D

Had no idea that you were financing it alone. That's an admirable thing to do, but also a pretty good chunk out of your pocket every year.

I'll kick in what ever too. I like it because it's easy. Don't really need it because I now have my own spot. But I still use it all the time because all my other stuff is there. And none of my sheit has EVER been lost unlike the image center here.

I'm fairly new here, only a forum member for a year now, but I have definately used the ***boatpic's for all of my posted pic's.
Still trying to figure out how to delete pic's i don't need anymore though, and I did lose 2 pages of pic's in the last outage...

j rocket, as long as people are using it for what i built it for i will keep it up and running. I was looking at the stats and hbp has over 12k reg members and almost 4k have posted pics with close to 7 million picture views. I guess people use it more than i thought. I am glad people are using it.

Maybe give users one-year/two-years on uploads then start dumping the content. Another idea would be to cut down the available space per user.
Lots of dead items I'm sure that could be deleted.
