Weren't cross bred dogs just called mutts a few years ago? What's the big deal w/ doing this? The newest one I've seen is call a Puggle. I don't get it... I thought the idea was to try to keep dogs pure bred. Sorry... I'm just iritated by this.

I know a guy who was breeding Bulldogs and the Shi Tzus. After three breeding cycles he was up to his neck in BullShitz. :rollside:

My daughter wants a Chug(Chiuahua/Pug) in the worst way....but my other two mutts might eat it so I say NO.
Both my mutts are pound puppies, only way I get a dog....best dogs I tell ya.

I have a Shi Poo - she is as smart as a poodle and pretty as a Shitzu, but when I was a kid she would have been called a mutt. The cost as much as a pure bred!

I have had numerous purebreds and many more Heinz57s. My wife used to have a toy poodle mix that she loved. After it passed away, her sisters found a gal that raised apricot toy poodles and Malteses. Every so often she would do a cross breed because they were real popular. I don't know if they have a cute name, I would call it a blended malt. Anyway, they bought a puppy for my wife and she loves it. After five years, it knows several commands except SHUTUP.

Okay, I've been reading this thread and have to say this: Some of you know Rocky,AKA BoatFloating. He's a great friend of mine, but his parents did the cross breed thing, and look what they ended up with? He's a Beaner that thinks he's Italian one day and white the next, who the hell would want that? :D :D :D :D

LMAO!
Cross-breeding is how we got Labradors. They are a blend of a Newfoundland and a spaniel. You will notice some carry more traits of one than the other.
It's not a new phenomenon.

Cross breeding Poodles is becoming popular because people who are allergic to dogs are often not to poodles. There is another very populor new breed called labradoodles. GO figure :boxed:
