Hi, I live in San Clemente and have a place in Parker. My wife and I are looking at relocating to the desert. I wanted to see what everybodies expierence with living in the desert versus coastal. We love Parker, but are tired of the OC traffic.

I was worried about it but have come to really enjoy it. However, I could not do it without a pool. The winters are awesome and spring and fall are great. Summer is spent at the lake or the pool so its no biggie. Not as bad as everyone seems to think it would be. I have no regrets.

I forgot about the riding. Its nice to have places to ride close to home and not have to worry too much about Mr. Ranger.

I have lived here in LA Quinta about ten years, its OK.
Gets hot in Mid May thru mid Sept.
Parker is about two hours away and Ocotillo Wells for dirt bike riding is about 40 minutes away.
Don't even think about living in P.S. unless your Gay. Its about 85% ( guesstimate) Gay now. Mayor is gay guy and they hold the annual White Parade each Easter in P.S.
Other cities that are nice are: Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells and La Quinta.

I am looking to relocate to La Quinta. Not really Palm Springs. We are looking at a house in a Country Club with Pool and Spa. I don't think the temp will be a problem. I have lived in Orange County for 29 years with the exception of college in New York. I have a young doctor and want to make sure the move is the best thing for the family.

Ever thought about Yucaipa, or Cherry Valley areas? There's some outstanding deals to be had there, and you're practically to PS, with much less heat. Send me a PM if you're interested.
Good luck.

NOT ONLY IS IT HOT  BUT IT IS VERY DRY
Been out in the high desert for a little over 10 years, some adjustments from living by the beach. Easier to get places like others mentioned, dirt bikes, closer to river, etc.
Biggest complaint is when the winds kick up :yuk:

Do not consider the other side of the freway..Desert Hot Springs is cheaper but the friken wind comes and goes all the time and I do mean WINDY.
In laws live there and I am trying to relocate them to Rancho Mirage or La Quinta.
Casinos are great, lots of places to eat and some entertainment.
HOT during summer, but who is out in the heat then anyway. POOL/ Mall/casino....Havasu
PS has a LOT of gays :p

Lived there back in 1987. back when Penguins ice cream shop was all that was open after 6pm and Pompei's was the hot spot! We used to watch the old folks gum there ice cream for entertainment! Things have really gotten better since then :)

I'm here in La Quinta/Bermuda Dunes... I can give you the run-down on the golf course communities should you want some info. Feel free to PM with any Q's.
