little help needed here. i have a 272 baja with a mpi 502. i live in the north west a about 2500 feet. when i bought my boat it came with a 23p 3 blade and it seams to run pretty good but form time to time i get some prop blow out. after doing some reading i decied to try a 22p 4 blade and the boat seams to get out of the water a bit better but doesnt seem to get any more top end. with both props the seem to max out around 5000 rpm. i can tell tha the 4 blade has way more bite and i use alot more trim. the 3 blade feels alot smoother throughout the rpm range but i have only have tryed the 4 blade once and still trying to figure out the boat. can any budy help on what would be the best prop for all arround and still get the best top end. i also know that the boat and load changes for time to time when we go to the lake.
????????????

a four blade will always be more efficient

well is it more or less so the 3 blade would be better in the long run

what is the rev limiter on the 502 MPI? Isn't it 5100 give or take (Dan <----too damn lazy to look it up)
If you're getting 5,000 I think you're pretty damn close on your prop right now.
I think you'll find the best all around performance with a 4-blade on that particular application.

Top end 3 blade (less drag). Hole shot, 4 blade. Exactly what you are describing.
A couple of miles per hour difference between the two. For overall family performance boating for what you are describing, I would go with the 4 blade.

I thought the TorqueShift from Land & Sea is what you normally reccomended... Tom.

3 blade more efficient. May not be the best prop for the application.

I have the same set up you describe so I asked Byron Bronson of Bronson Hill for an opinion.
4 Blade offers superior hole shot & normal boat handeling. Sacrifice is top end speed. How fast is enough? The two or 3 miles an hour you lose with a 4 is only your imagination. Its very likely the boats not as fast as speedometer shows anyway. Can yo feel the differance between 62 & 66 MPH
Take the handeling
