We're home this weekend and wondering about the "New Rules" in The Channel. Anyone have any first had experiences to share?? Do tell... :)

Looking at the Marina Cam, it looks crowded. I'm sure there's some illegal alcoholic beverage consumption going on. On the other hand, there's some legal consumption going on at my house.

Enforcement of booze ban at London Bridge Beach welcomed

No alcohol on London Bridge Beach? No problem.
The majority of Memorial Day partiers that spoke with Today's News-Herald on the issue of enforcement of the no alcohol law in London Bridge Beach Park said they not only didn't mind the regulations, they were pleased with the way the police were handling enforcement.
“The police have been very respectful in telling people that they can't have a beer on the beach and we have been respectful to them,” said Mike Sheehan from Kingman.
Joe Dibiase of Northridge, Calif. agreed, saying “The police have been great. There's no bullying and we're happy to do as they ask.”
Frank Francia, an explosives ordinance specialist on leave from the U.S. Navy while he recovers from soldier surgery, joined Marine Gulf War vet Caesar Chapa and Fred Coronado of San Diego in watching the activity on the beach. He said he was enjoying his stay regardless of the liquor restrictions. “ I like it a lot. I love Havasu, it's amazing. It's something everyone has to experience at least once.”
The only disagreement with the law voiced to Today's News-Herald was from local resident Louie Ordaz who said “I didn't think the regulations would go in so fast. We rely on tourism in this city and I think the city should be a little more lenient.”
Police Sgt. Pat Wilson said that communication has been key in securing the compliance of revelers. “There's been a lot of education on the part of the officers. People have been real good about following the law and keeping alcohol off the beach. We tell them they have to stay in the water or on a boat with alcohol and people have been. It's early in the holiday but so far so good.”
Some visitors weren't concerned about alcohol regulations, they were just looking to relax and enjoy the holiday. Filo Silva set up a feast at one of the cabanas at London Bridge Beach Park. “My friends are in the water, I get to chef,” he said laughing.
Julie Zorn, Elizabeth Arnold and four friends made their way to Lake Havasu City for the first time in 15 years. The Southern California women said they were disappointed they couldn't get their boat in the water Saturday - they weren't willing to wait three hours at area launch ramps - but they would improvise. “We'll just have to have fun on the beach, “Zorn said. “Since we don't have a boat we'll just have to find some guys that would like to invite us on theirs.”
Near the London Bridge Resort, on the side of the Channel where it still is permissible to have alcohol on the beach, almost a dozen friends from Las Vegas gathered for their annual Memorial Day weekend trip to Lake Havasu City.
Diane Limbrasert said the police had been very nice to them and that they come every year because of the party atmosphere.
“We've been here since Friday,” said Limbrasert, “We'll be here until Monday.”
“We come here for spring break, Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day,” said one of Limbrasert's friends, Kayla Haws. “This place is a party.”
Next to them were sisters Rayma and Felicia Keka, also of Las Vegas. “It's wild here,” said Rayma. “We love it.”
Suzann Villegas of Norco, Calif. sat on the beach with friends while the kids, ages 12 and 11, played in the designated swim area of London Bridge Beach. She said she was enjoying her first visit to Lake Havasu City but said “next time, we'll have a boat.”
Through early afternoon Saturday, police reported most of the incidents they've dealt with on the Island side of the Bridgewater Channel involved under-aged drinking. There were 19 arrests - all women - Friday and one male arrested on Saturday by noon. All 20 were minors consuming alcohol.
As of 2:40 p.m. Saturday, police in all jurisdictions, and including the off-duty officers from Kingman and Bullhead City hired to assist Lake Havasu City Police, reported a total of 70 adult arrests and seven juveniles. Liquor and drug-related offenses made up 55 of those arrests, 48 of those in the Bridgewater Channel. Two people, a man and a woman, were taken into custody for indecent exposure.
Mohave County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Trish Carter said arrests began picking up around 5 p.m. on Saturday, mainly OUI arrests, but said she wouldn't have complete weekend figures until Tuesday.

Man, my wife, friends and I were so lucky. We went to Havasu last weekend, and didnt even notice the signs in the channel. We were drinking and having a grand ol time. We didnt realize till we were leaving that there were signs all over the place. I guess we didnt notice them because of all the drinking going on....LOL :) :rollside:

Having been in L.E. IMO Havasu does not have much of a problem when you consider how may people there are that are intoxicated in one area. If you tried that in the town I worked in you would have people shooting and stabbing each other. I give props to both L.E. and the people there. Pretty well behaved all thing considered. :cool:
