Anyone out there have a 7.4 with a belt driven sea water pump?
I didn't pay close enough attention when pulling the pump housing off.
Does the hose from the drive/transom go on the bottom or top?
Sorry, stupid question. My manuel shows one way and the mercruiser parts page shows another.
Also, does the thermostat have to open up before water will start exiting through the exhuast?
Thanks.

As for hose connection kind of depends on how the housing is turned. Should be arrows with rotation and which is suction.
You should ALWAYS have water out the exhaust. It will take a few seconds to fill the block and manifolds if everything is dry. If you ran it long with no water your new impeller is going to need replaced.

Thanks Daytona. Top in Bottom out worked.
Water out the exhaust now.
Do you know if the thermostat housing gasket (the kind with the brass contact point) needs sealant?
