My partners XZ drive lasted 1 season with his Larry Peto 900hp motor in his 28 daytona, since he's gone with the b-max and had no problems. I have herd good about the imco sc. Good Luck

I heard they has an SC drive on the 25' Daytona that ran 144 mph at the 100 mph shootout last month in Parker. (we'll have to see when that "other magazine" comes out)

It will do as well as any with that much HP.
Just watch the hole shots, work your right arm smoothly in both directions...

Is yours the one with the rounded top cap instead of the traditional square Bravo one held down with 4 bolts?

the new sc imco has a chrome cap that looks more apart of the outdrive then an add on.
the sc vs extrem
the sc has a new imco upper case the gears are the same as the extrem http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
Over at Offshoreonly.com I saw a guy selling SC and Extrems $7000 for the extrems and $8800 for the new SC, it was on the "board" under outdrives.

riverliver,
I'd bet you thats not chrome. Real boaters NEVER use any chrome on boats. Its either polished aluminum or stainless. Chrome is for bicycles or cars...

yes you are most likely right.
Chrome is also for Harley's http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Any time you take a Bravo 1 and build on that you are looking for trouble.I wonder why Merc started over.Maybe it was from years of the Bravo breaking?Da.

My cat is a HTM SR-24 built mostly with a carbon fiber lay up, so its about 350-400 lbs lighter than a fiberglass hull. Dyno hp is 1079 hp. The Imco SC is a complete new case designed by IMCO. It has a two piece upper case and the lower portion has a longer than "mercury" cavitation plate. It does however use the XR straight cut gears but that is where it stops. I got rid of the B-Max I was running and am anxious to see how this one does. I am going to run this drive within the next 3 weeks and will post how it does.

Flatfastcat, what was wrong with your B-MAX

Everyone I talk to says it kills 6 to 9 mph on the top end........

Re Imco SC: I spoke with Dave @ DCB, and he has had excellent success with the drive thus far. Re the Powerboat test on the 140 mph Daytona, it did survive -- two or three passes, then it grenaded. Of course, no telling how hard they hammered it out of the hole....

Well I ran the new SC and so far no problems. No top speed test thus far, but with the small prop the boat accelerates harder than with the B-Max (noticably) and speeds with the same prop are plus a solid 6 mph. I'm anxious to try the big props, bet it will run mid to high 120's.

i was there at the testing and believe me they were hammering them hard.

I'm pretty sure these guys have had 100% success in everything over 1000HP. Plus I know from personal experience they are a hell of a lot nicer to work with then the guys at the other place.

Flatfastcat, Did your x-dim change from the b-max to the imco drive? That is an impressive performance gain by the the imco drive. With the HP and light lay up you have I would guess your boat will run well into the 120's. Good luck and let us know how the speed run goes and how it compares to the b-max.

SVO 540....The X-Dimension is the same as before. I was running a 24 pitch BravoI at 6,000 rpm and 1:30 ratio and 90 mph with the B-Max was at 14% slip. Whats interesting is the new Imco SC is a LOWER ratio at 1:34 and at 6,000 rpm and with the same prop it runs 96.7 mph at 6.7% slip. (gps both ways) So the gain considering gear ratio is well better than 6 mph. Now that the prop is loaded properly, it will be interesting to find out if the motor will be able to pull the bigger prop to a higher top speed! It does obviously pull harder than with the B-Max! I have been experimenting with the new Torco RTF (racing transmission fluid). They say that the HP is definately up from the other drive oils. It is fully synthetic and it has some great qualitys according to the specs. Chow
