It's Official, I just got off the phone with Todd Taylor from Joker's Wild Promotions.
This goes out to everybody that owns/wants/likes/knows/wants to party with some one who owns a tunnel boat or was an aquanitance of one of the victims of the January 11, 2002 HTM tragedy.
As everyone knows I was closely associated with Steve Coulombe and his family not to mention HTM.
While needless to say this is a somber time for all involved, I would like to see a regatta that will beat all regattas and one that mirrors the avarice and zest for boats and life of my late friends and co-workers.
The entire event will be handled by Joker's Wild Promotions which I personally know from past events is a First Class operation. They are doing this at their cost and all proceeds will be donated to the families of the victims!
The tentative dates are June 7th and 8th, 2002. Tickets and merchandise will go on sale well in advance of the event itself we are going to be working out some of the details this weekend in Lake Havasu and I should have more information by next week.
I am hoping that we can have different levels of tickets for people who want to attend without a boat, as people may want to attend just to show their respects to the families and talk about old times.
I will post instructions and further details for the purchase of tickets as we finalize this event... so keep those days open for the party of the year!

We will be there. My ride better be back together by then or I'll be in big trouble with the misses. Since we have a home in Havasu, We don't have any problem making any weekend. We were hoping someone would put together a regatta in their memory. Will have our memorial stickers on our boat and tow vehicle in honor of our lost brothers. Hope to see everyone out there . Tunnel and Friends Memorial Regatta
The event will be held at the Nautical Inn in Lake Havasu on June 7th and 8th, 2002.
This event is not just for Tunnels, it will be open to everyone. Even if you don't have a boat come and show your support.
This is a time to help our friends, who are dealing with an unimaginable loss. I know the victims of this tragedy would want us to continue boating and would appreciate us watching over their loved ones.
If you are interested please e-mail your name, address, phone number, boat make and model to jokerswildpromotions@citlink.net
If you will not be able to attend, we will gladly accept your donations and direct them to the HTM Memorial Fund.
ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO THE HTM MEMORIAL FUND!
Sincerly

Charlie, I wouldn't even think about asking http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif Can you say "dead man"?I'll get through the wedding, take a weekend at home then it's off to Bora Bora & Moorea. Lot's of water, but probably not a lot of Hot Boats http://free.***boat.net/ubb/frown.gif
Well, we're taking the boat out Sunday foor the first time since the water pump incident at Havasu when we were "cruising" the lake together http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif She should be OK!

Nashvillebound, yeah we've heard that, so our first stop is a beachfront bungalow in Moorea. 4 nights there and then we'll do 3 nights in Bora Bora. We have one of those over water bungalows there. I'm not sure what island we have what on, but I know we have a jeep trip, snorkling, shark feeding (hopefully the last two aren't combined together http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif)and some other stuff. Any suggestions on what to bring and what not to bring, besides bringing money!!

Caig: I think with plastic in hand you will be set. I almost forgot, there is a diner on top of the mountain. You take a jeep ride to it up, I swear, a goat trail. You can see the wreckage from past jeep trips down in the valley hundreds of feet straight down. Go when its light so you can see the sun set from the diner. If you like escargo like I do you'll be in heaven. We were kah-rappin our shorts but its a great adenture and killer food. Every morning they slip a daily schedule under your bungalo door....do everything. If you can get diving certification (pool) befor you go it will be worth it. The shallow diving is worth the trip its self. They can cert. you there but its a chunk of trip you can use to do other things. So bring an underwater camera too. We did even though we were tired from playing all night. I have to warn you though the meat(steaks and fish) taste kinda different. I figure its cuz its all local. With all the drinking we did I would eat anything.....and did. I tried everything. You only live once. I think the only milk there is goat milk and cheese. Didn't bother me too much but the wifey gets all weird and queezy. Have a great time.....Jeff

Craig,
I was in Moorea April 1999. One suggestion I
have, pack one suitcase with snack foods and bottles of your favorite mixing alcohol. My one suitcase weighed in @ 100lbs and I had no problems with checking it in. I brought two huge plastic bottles of Vodka, to go with powder kool-aid, that I mixed with bottled water. Just to give you an idea of the expense, one glass of orange juice was $9.00 USD. Walked to the nearby store to retrieve beer for the indoor refridgerator. Removed all items from the refridgerator(all non-perishable items) and stocked it with what was purchased at the local store. Took quite a few tuna snacks purchased at Costco. Those came in handy to feed the stingrays. Purchased a bottle of JD to mix with store bought sodas, wrapped in a huge beach towel. It survived the flight there ! Be prepared to spend 4 hours at dinner, they take their time when it comes to eating. Most restaurants on Moorea ususally have one dinner sitting. Anyhow, have a wonderful time.

$9 for a freakin' OJ?? Oh well, I've wanted to go there for a long time and this is it! We got a honeymoon package that included meals, That might be good or it might be bad http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif We'll have to stuff some stuff in the suitcase with some ancks anyway. Hell, we're going for the scenery! Anyone been to a place called Bloody Marys? It's on Moorea or Bora Bora, I don't remember which one. We have dinner there one night, supposed to be a popular place. Time for lots of pictures. Thanks for the info.

If I remember right, Bloody Marys was on Bora Bora. Um, we ate the local food, and, um, I had to , um,I dont know how to tell you this, but I had to call the doctor for my wife..Small amount of food dissagreement. Poisoning is the wrong word here. Like you said, don't sweat the small stuff. Go there to have a kick ass fun time, and you will. Who care how much the food is. If your anything like me you don't even look at prices. Looks good, sounds good, order it. You only live once.
I wish I could remember the name of that diner on top of the hill...
you gotta go there! Jeff
