Hi
I am working on a project involving a Skater 24 and two modified Merc 2.5 litre engines pulling 308 HP each at the dyno. Any idea how fast the boat should be?

What is the weight of the boat? My last boat DCB MACH 26 with twin 2.5 offshores (280 hp) ran a best of 106 mph. The skater 28's with 2.5's on the offshore circuit are running in the 110 mph range give or take a little. These boats are vaccuum bagged kevlar layups. Depends on the setup as well. We had to lower the motors on the mach because of water pressure problems which cost a couple miles an hour on the top end. If you can run external pickups off the hull and keep the motors as high as possible it will add a little on the top. The best props I ran were merc 15x30 labbed cleavers. With the extra hp you have you might be able to pull some 32's. Good luck. Chris

Hi!
I will know more about the hull in a weeks time. My first priority is the 28 Skater, but I am not shure if we can afford it this year. Anyone had any experience with Skater 24 and rough water? A friend of mine ran a 28 Skater at 114 mph+ with 2 x 2.5's in races several times. In fact they ran a average of 90-100 mph in 6 feet seas for 2,5 hours ! Mad people...

You'll like ELIMINATOR better than SKATER and probably run just as fast

I own the 24' Skater in the 2001 March isue of Hot Boat. The boat has twin 225hp promaxs and will do just over 100mph.If you set yours up correctly and the motors are actually puting out 300hp you should have no problem hitting 119mph or more. With 60 gallons of fuel,500 pounds of cargo and 110 degrees my GPS said 97.5 three weeks ago in Havasu.Rough water handeling is excellent.I went to Catalina Island off the coast of California in August of last year.At 31 nautical miles and 3-5 foot seas we averaged 61mph.Don't let anyone tell you there is something better.Skater is the fastest best offshore performance boat.People know, like Paul Tracey, his 40 foot pleasure Skater does over 150mph

Hi!
We are buying (most likely) a used Skater 24 from Dubai. It has been used to break in 2.5 litres.... Mad sheiks! We also have the oportunity to buy a Skater 28, but I think this is more for the 2003 budget!
I am happy that the Skater 24 can do some heavy seas, since most of our coasline is offshore. However, this boat will be used for fast fun mostly. Thanks for your help. I will come back to you when we start rigging. I could need some help on props, height, etc.
Cheers, Toffen G
