Leaving tomorrow and I can't get out of work early  so how long do I have to wait for traffic to die thru there?

I would not be leaving my house till around 7pm, so I would be going thru there around 8pm, wondering how it would be then, probably still bad.

You may luck out if you're going through right at five...otherwise, it's jam packed till late-late evening. Welcome to my every evening commute.

Still not good, but better than at 5-7pm. Good luck, I hate that section.

You know, when they did the lane addition 2-3 years ago, it wasn't bad at all and they only shut down lanes during the week and at nights from what I remember. We thought it was gonna suck, but it really wasn't that bad. Hopefully, this new project will run the same.

Do you guys think it would be faster taking the 10 to Desert Center and go thru Parker?

They are saying Mon - Thur plus an additional 9 weekends during the 06 summer.
Yes, I do remember that it wasn't that bad before, but I also remember the over all traffic wasn't as bad 2-3 years ago either. I hope when it's closed they are actually working, unlike the 9 mile stretch along the 40 where it seems they are working on only 1 out of the 9 miles at a time.
Hey I got an idea let's close 9 miles to work under 2 bridges.

if you are thinking the 10, try going through 29 palms, faster, safer, less traffic, more services in 29 palms. Only 125 miles to needles from there.

Is there construction going on on the 40 as well? I was headed to Havi two weeks ago and they had on lane closed in two sections of the 40 and it sucked.

We just leave at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning. I live in the same area as you do and there is just no way of getting there on a Friday without having a 5+ hour drive in you leave after 4pm.
We will be hitting the road at 5am this Saturday, pick up the boat in Needles and we are on the water by 10am.

yes, right around white water. I'm just a fan of this route because it's a change of scenery and Rice road is a death trap. Our peeps from the IE take this way all the time.

With the construction on the 15/215 interchange we may go back to going via Blythe. I've never gone via 29 Palms, is that a pretty good way to go?

Are you towing? They just repaved it so it's really nice now, we took Goldylocks an Buddy out that way this past weekend. But in the past, it's not a great road to tow on, similiarly to rice road with the washouts.

LOL - giving away cones. That's funny, I might have to steel it for the kids and wifeys entertainment next trip out. Thanks!

actually just take the 10 and then go up the 215 thru san berdoo.. when you hook back up with the 15 you can usually scoot on thru because you will be in the fast lane.

At this point wait until 8:30/9:00pm then take the 10 all the way out to Erinburg and take the 95 in through Parker. Safest route.

I left last friday at 8pm and there was still traffic at the merge. It didn't help that there was an accident right before the Cajon summit that had traffic backed up an additional hour.

Seems like Ehrenburg is the safest route. I think I am actually going to try it out tonight to keep off of Rice Road. Anyways during traffic times stay on the 60 till it intersects with the 10. It will hold you up around 20 minutes at the 215/91 interchange and it is smooth sailing from there. I have been through 29 palms and I would probably use that now before the 15 to the 40 especially because of the 40 construction but it is a boring middle of nowhere neverending drive. And actually driving through 29 palms sucks.
I am actually interested to see how much longer Ehrenburg is than Rice Road. I'm thinking it won't actually take much longer since I don't fly on Ride Road and being on the 10 with a higher speed limit I can actually go faster to make up for the lost time with the extra 10 miles.

True, once you hit the river, it's 75mph towing.

Juan if have not driven this route then driving it at night for the first time would probably be a bad idea. I'd go through Barstow. That road can get pretty ugly and can get really desolate after 29 Palms sould you get into a break down. If you leave at 6 from home or at 8 at night your end result time wise to Havasu will be the same. It just means you'll either be at home sitting around or sitting in Traffic.

If my memory is right I believe it is ~20 miles longer. After you cross over into AZ, take the first exit, go left a the end of the ramp. When you get to the stop sign, go right. The speed limit there is 35. After you get out of Ehrenberg you will be on Indian Land, Indian HWY 1, that cuts across farm land. Flat and straight for the most part.

I have noticed a lot more container trucks on all freeways in the past 2 years
and they now take up 2 lanes sometimes 3.
Theres no goodtime except very early sunday mornings.
Watchout for the trucks with the company names duct taped on the doors.

I go the 10 fwy or the 210 fwy about 7:30-8:30pm on Fridays,
Then look over at the 15fwy if its moving I might go the 15.
When its not moving I get back to the 10 fwy to the I 95 into Parker where you can stop and get TACOS!
Rice Road can be tough for the first time and at night!
But it MOVES VERY WELL.
