Damn S10's
Thought those were supposed to be able to turn 7,500 rpm with 100k on the clock.

.......timing chain snapped in two.........
Maybe a supplier flaked on him so he had to use the head from his work truck and it had valve springs that were too stiff causing the chain to snap? ... or maybe he ran it with low oil pressure while he was breaking it in with fuel flowing into the oil.

The chain arrangement on this engine is a piece of shit...a double row chain...and stout gears.....that depend on a small piece of flat spring and plastic for a tensioner...tensioner wears....chain slaps around.....and you get new valves....I guess this guarantees GM some repair business...they wanted
$2009.00 to replace the chain....and check the head....

I have been into a few of them also.... :D
The truck I tow my boat with......pictured below.....is a 94 GMC Sierra.....turned 300k miles last week.....with the original timing chain set...

I "stole" a DeVille that I was going to use for a "driver" until I order another truck. I knew the water pump was leaking... no big deal. Come to find out it also had 2 cracked heads, and on a Northstar motor to top it off... whole deal set me back over $4000. :yuk:
