Hard to put this in perspective - yes they drew a tough group, probably the second toughest group of eight.
But two years of qualifying, and four years of anticipation for THAT performance ?
Two goals in three matches, and one of those is an own-goal on Italy ?
Where was Landon Donovan ?
I can agree with Bruce Arena that a couple of calls were, shall we say, questionable. The red cards in the Italy match were a bad joke, and the USA did well to halve the match playing with 9 v 10.
But, IMO, Bruce Arena needs to man up and take a little personal responsibility. Four years to get ready, and the team doesn't show up in its opening match against Czech Republic ? Behind 3 goals in differential, they were practically screwed after the first match - even though they weren't "mathematically eliminated" until today.
Hoping that we have some upcoming young talent that loves the game and has played since they were 3. And hire an international coach for 2010.
