We talking Daytona?
Gotta crawl before we walk. This is Kansas City, ARCA.
We are here with the Nascar Craftsman Trucks and IRL guys.
The IRL guys, 95% of them, really walk around with their nose in the air. I was a big time open wheel fan, but this really kinds of turns me off on the whole series (IRL). All the Nascar Truck and ARCA guys are really down to earth and cool. Glad I am associated with 1 of the 2 over the IRL.

I am now an instant redneck. I am totally hooked on this thing. I came into this not really know what to expect, but had a great time.
We finished 6th out of 40 cars to start.
Just before the 1/2 mark of the race, we lost 3rd gear in the tranny, and had to run 4th gear the rest of the race, about 70 laps total. Even coming in to the pits, stopped in 4th and took off in 4th with the whole crew pushing the car to get up to speed.
It is such a cool feeling to be sitting next to the team owner on the top of the pit box with the headsets on for the entire race AND have your company logo on the car going around the track with about 50,000 in the stands.
I'll get some pictures up in about an hour for anyone at home or in a hotel room like me on the big holiday weekend night. I have about 200 to download right now.

Heard the NASCAR truck boys were the best. Alot less crap to deal with, media, p correctness and the such. Saw my first race at the Richmond track in 97. Unbelivable. I was hooked. Congrats on your finish.

I think we had a transmission problem. :220v: This is transmission fluid coming through the floor. They took it apart after inspection (pulled motor and tranny) and the transmission was locked up and done... Dont think we had more than 3-4 laps left on it.

I was about 10 minutes away from sponsoring this kid for this race. Good thing I didn't. When I mean 10 minutes, they didn't call back fast enough and I finalized the deal with our current team. Crunch time... he was running really fast though until this.

Kansas is about as far west as ARCA goes, but I really want to try and lobby for a west coast event, either PHX or Vegas... Who knows.
Look at the dates that I put in bold above. The teams really got screwed in this. 4 races within 2 weeks, and with us in the points lead and chasing the championship, we have to get to every one unless the other top teams sit one of the smaller ones out.
Our next race with the full Dri Wash car is July 15 in Michigan.

...Great pics...You are absolutely right one weekend in the pits and it's pretty easy to get hooked.
The ARCA series offers alot of bang for the buck.Lot of young talent and some very good veterans(Kimmel).
The Gerhart family are icons in the NorthEast...Real Racers.
The Arca race in Ill. on Sept 4,is a dirt track race...great opportunity to showcase your product on a bunch dusty cars...(PlayDeep)

I really like the series. I wanted to kick Steve Wallace in the junk though. That kid thinks he is prime time or something. News Flash Steve, you are not driving in the cup series, and probably never will, so sign a damn autograph when a guy behind a fence is asking for it.
I was very disappointed in Speed TV coverage though. I'll go into that later. I'm really sick now and cant keep my eyes open, so going to take a few pills from the doc, and be out for the night.
Happy 4th everyone.

No problem. Your kids were the only 2 in the pits, and the only reason was because the Director of ARCA happened to be the guy I asked how to get you guys in for a tour. They were all impressed with us being a new sponsor and how many people we had there. It looked like we owned the place in the ARCA garage area.
Glad you could come down and say hello, even though you live a little far now. Hope the kids had a good time, too bad it was so hot. The best was when the crew took off with the tranny but Bobby stayed on the track and posted a top 5 lap time. The crew was sitting behind the fence with the tool box and tranny with the WTF look on their faces.
Our next TV deal is in the works as well.

Just finalized another deal, so we will be on the rear 1/4 panels for tomorrow night's race (Friday July 7) at 9 PM Eastern LIVE on SPEED TV. #5 Dri Wash/Lucas Oil Chevrolet.
Also have another one as the full sponsor the following weekend in Michigan.
This racing thing is actually really fun. :rollside: A lot more than I expected.
