I hope this is nobody we all know. What a bummer.
Speedboat sinks north of Catalina
From wire services
An oceangoing speedboat went down about 12 miles north of Avalon around 11 a.m. Saturday and the two people aboard were rescued by other boaters the Coast Guard said.
A spokesman said the 38-foot Scarab may be swamped and floating just below the surface.

Very sad.
My biggest fear is ripping a drive off and going down. Even with 4,000GPH+ of bilge pumps, it probably would go down.

Hell We used to take my 22' Scarab over to Catilina by ourselfs. I dont think you guys are as afraid of the big open water as you are of the salt in that water. :crossx: :crossx: :crossx:

Very sorry to hear this.
An article on cbs2.com says, "The boat is blue with purple lightning bolts on the sides."

All corrected. Medications is kicking in. Partying on the boat yesterday made me forget my heel is cracked. Just a tad extra swelling today.

Flush rince well. Repeat. The only problem I had was trailer brakes and axels. We pust the boat in the Pacific once or twice a week back then. We were only 3 miles from Mission Bay. That was part of the problem with the axels (bearings) never dried out completly with the short pull home.

Devore I didnt know anyone lived in devore.(jk) I have a house in pinion hills but live in vegas now. I used to drive equipment. One of the jobs I did was the sbcs academy right over behind the jail. Just across from where they used to have the m.t. sand drags..............

Jordy and I were out Sat. in Catalina. Saw this Scarab leaving I think. Jordy caught some major air on the way home. I would say 6 to 8 foot swells. Jordy was 8 foot or better in the air at times. Donzi stayed in the water with help of K-planes. But 45 50 mph was the best we could do.
But the water got big fast and I could see how someone could sink if in trouble. Sorry to hear about it. I think they left out of Newport about an hour before we headed out.
