I need a brake controller for my 1500HD truck...the heaviest trailer I am going to have is a 2000lb car hauler + a 3500lb race car for a total of 5500lbs.
Who makes the best brake controller out there. I just want to buy it once and forget about it. I was looking at Prodigy..any otehr recommendations??
Thanks.

Prodigy.
A simple 4 wire hookup, and maybe only a one time, very simple adjustment.

I just installed a Prodogy on my Dodge yesterday. Make sure you get the harness that fits your truck. It couldn't be any eaisier to install. Takes about three minutes to hook up. I can't say how it works yet. Won't know untill Aug.

My truck came with the trailering package which included a harness that I found in the glove compartment..I assume thats the one for an easy install? I think this harness plugs into the truck, but does the other end of the harness plug right into the prodigy brake controller or is there an adapter I need for that. The truck is a 2006 GMC Sierra Crew Cab 1500HD

I bought mine online here (http://www.brakecontroller.com/). Free shipping and it includes a free high quality pre made wiring harness that lets you plug into the fuse block and into the controller. Very clean and easy to install.

Thats a good price, I will say that the place I listed is in Texas so the 124.95 includes shipping, the correct harness and no tax right to your door.

I sort of need it and have to have it installed by tomorrow night...what about the harness that came with my truck, can I use that one?

Yes of course. The Prodigy comes with a pigtail as well, you'll just need to splice the wires together for the two. :)

If you buy the one from Southwest Wheel you will get the truck specific harness and all the other stuff that the other company charges extra for. $124.00 for everything including shipping and you can hook it up in three minutes. Mine got here in two days.

Prodigy... kicks ass for sure. I tow a #14,000lbs trailer every day, 200,000 miles and its still kicken. :)

So where is everyone installing these in their trucks? There doesn't seem to be a really good location to put one.

I put mine just under the light switch. Installed it with velcro. Way easy...
