In reading TPC's thread, I thought about the pussification of America and all the "don't want to offend anyone" BS that goes around nowadays. It also reminded me of a few lashings I received from my dads belt when i was young. He never did it out in the open to humiliate me and it was never at a level I would consider abusive, just a good 'ol fashin whoopin. Does anyone else on here have any of these stories?

When I was really little, my mom would use a ping pong paddle cause it made a loud noise and mainly just scared me, but didn't hurt. As the years went on, it progressed to a yard stick, till that broke, then it was just the hand. Only once did I get the belt, and I did deserve it. I can't think of once spanking I got that I didn't deserve, and really, I think it kept me in line pretty good growing up. Or at least taught me to think about how I could get away with things without being caught :)

All the spankings I got I justly deserved. Kept me in line and I never got into any 'real' trouble.

We were just having this discussion over the 4th.
My dad used the belt and my mom used wooden spoons. The spoons would brake and she'd ask for new ones for Christmas, of course never getting any. Until, the day she moved outta state when we were all grown up we gave her about 20 new wooden spoons as a goind away present! :p
We deserved most of the lashings we got, and I think most kids still need 'em.

Oh hell yeah.... we were four kids, two of us boys, and always into trouble. My Dad would use his belt with no hesitation... my mom would grab what she could. She had two weapons of choice though, she kept a horse crop above the washer/dryer and when we heard the doors open to that room we learned to run like hell! Her second choice was the goddamn Hot Wheels track. That shit was the worst. My brother and I wound up hiding it.
The thing I remember most though, was getting in trouble at school, where the principal was allowed to use a paddle. On more than one occasion I got the requisite 3 swats for punishment, the they called home to tell my mom, and I got it again when I got home. :( I remember one occasion the principal asked me "do you want extra swats from me, or do you want me to call your parents?" I chose the extra swats, then the son of a bitch called my parents anyway. Bastard.
Anyways, I grew up fine I think, I respected authority figures, followed the rules and am a pretty productive citizen, and I'm proud to say my daughter is the same. (but not without a few lashings along her way)

Totally recall which teachers had the paddles with holes in it.....those hurt too.

My mom also used the Ping Pong paddle OR if she couldn't find where we hid it ;) then she would make us go get a small branch off the tree and take the leaves off and use it as a switch........hurt like hell but I always deserved it and I thank them for it now. They never did it in public - except for once - and it was for taking my life jacket off at the river. Both of them came UNGLUED on the shore -and I never, ever did that again.

My brother was in Boy Scouts as a kid. My Dad was a Scout leader. For their woodworking project they build paddles. Drilled for speed & impact. They worked well.

What she said, PLUS...we had to drop our own drawers! Fugettaboud covering your arse w/ your hands...they have less padding and it hurt worse!
I'm always shocked at how much disrespect late-model kids have toward their parents and adults in general. It's totally a reflection of how their parents are raising them (or not) and how much parent's peers tolerate the behavior. I had a pool party where I literally had to look into a 15 year-old's eyes and instill what it meant to respect their elders, or I'd make him and his family go home. No pool for you!

Dad put the fear of God in me at an early age. I always deserved it every time I did get hit. I had to do something pretty bad. He would also tell me, be prepared, when you get home you are going to get a spanking. After that, I was a perfect angel hoping that it wouldn't happen when I got home, but that was never the case. He would say that you earned it and you got it. I think I was hit maybe 10x in my life and I can remember the reasons for probably 7 of the 10. All 7 that I can remember were justified.
Mom, didn't touch us. Instead, she would open our mouths and pour in a bunch of tabasco or horse radish. Both of those got the point across real quick too.

My husband and his sister were raised by their grandparents. Grandpa was a career navy man and not exactly a warm and snuggly fella. One day he had the both of them in the garage making what they thought were ping-pong paddles.....turned out he had them make their own spanking paddles.... Nice! :p

My mom used to buy those wooden paddle ball things with the little red ball attached by a long rubber band. Tear of the ball off and store it on top of the fridge. I don't know how many of those things my brothers and I had broken over our backs, but it was a lot.

Oh yeahhhhhh..... :D
"Wait till Dad gets home" was like waiting for the electric chair....
Misbehave around my grandmother and she would make us go out to the willow tree and cut the switch she was gonna use on us. What a dilemma!!
Too big and you were gonna have it bad.....BUT if it was too small then SHE got to pick one....... :crossx:
Nuthin' like the welts a good ol' willow switch gave ya....... :220v: :220v:

I don't really remember being hit as a kid( I know I was spanked a many times... but thats anohter story)
The one thing that Stands out in my childhood as "punishment" is when i was 5 or 6 I said "Fu(K" in front of my mother. She grabed me, draged me in the kitchen and put a drop of tabasco on the back on my thoung. Too this day I think I have only swarn infront of her one or two times.( which is amazing since She moved in with me, since she is disabled.)

My mom hit me once, when I was 16... I hit her back... She never laid a hand on me again.
My dad was easy going so we rarely had any problems when I was growing up.

Hand, leather belt, wooden spoon, hairbrush and a skipping rope. Can't recall what most of them were for except for the skipping rope because it was only spanking I ever got that I still think I didn't deserve - I didn't do what I was being accused of doing. Yeah I know ... let it go FM! :D
As for other hitting ... you know the sound a straw makes when you get to the end of the drink- that gurgle noise? If I did that in public I'd get a smack in the face and the evil eye from my Mom. The evil eye hurt more I think, lol.

I got spanked occasionally but more often than not it was "Son, lets go for a little ride"...

my parents used to make me wait for my beating....i'd sit there staring at the door handle in my room, hoping it would never move. they also chose to drill like 100 holes in the thing.

After I got home from Basic Training, I said, "F***" in front of my mom. Dad gave me a look that would have killed you. Never happened again...

At school, the Principle used a wooded paddle with holes in it. I think my parents had to sign something to allow it, and they did.
My dad used what ever was close. Usually a belt, but sometimes the pointy end of his cowboy boots worked good too, and yes he was wearing them.

Our family had a dedicated wooden paddle in a drawer in our kitchen. I you got into deep doo-doo, mom or dad would make us go get the stick so they could paddle our arses. That sucked. We also got our mouths washed out with a bar of soap if we got caught swearing. YUK! :yuk:
One time as a young lad I got caught stealing bags of candy from a local mom & pop grocery store. My dad told me to ride my bike home, where he'd be waiting for me. When I got home he escorted me to the basement, where he was doing some remodeling. He grabbed a 2 X 4 stud and swung it so hard he broke it across my a$$. I was bruised for weeks. From that point on, if I even THOUGHT about stealing something my a$$ would hurt. These days he would go to jail if caught doing this, but it taught me a lesson I'll never forget!
Our high school gym teacher, Mr. Halvorson, had the distinction of being the school disciplinarian. If you f'ed up really bad, you got swatted! His paddle consisted of a hockey goalie stick cut down and holes drilled in the wide blade part. I was fortunate enough to avoid it, but my older brother got to know that stick very well.

Got my backside belted quite a few times, did me no lasting harm, not even real memories of why's. One I will NEVER forget. I was in a store, and in teh checkout line, wanted some candy. Mom said no, and I began begging, and totally forgot DAD standing BEHIND me .......
About 10 secconds into my efforts, stars exploded, my teeth tried to fall out, my knees buckled, and I think I became 3" shorter for a split seccond. Dad had thumped me on top of my head, open palmed. Not particularly hard, but AFTER rolling that class ring of his to a "stone-down" position between his hand and my gourd. :crossx: :crossx:
My scene-making immediately stopped. :220v:
I was old enough that I didn't want to cry in public (about 10 or so).
I NEVER refused to accept "no" again after that.
I still have a indent in my skull where the plates join that I jokingly blame on that. :p

My parents, especially Dad definitely believed in this & it made me who I am today. I knew what was wrong & what was right, not saying it was always the best, but I don't really look back in anger
My .02 cents :)

Uh, yeah... Dad had the belt hanging on a nail on the wall in the kitchen, I guess so it was easily accessible and a "gentle" reminder for my brother and I. :220v: He'd have to crack it a couple times to make it worse before we got it. He was a mean SOB and over the top as far as ass whoopin's. I think my mom broke a wooden spoon and a hair brush on me before, but not much else from her. Dad had it covered, and then some.
