Just curious of What you do for a living out there? I am having a house built there and plan in moving there within a year after selling the business in SoCal. What are the good industries, etc? I currently own my own business with 85 employees and am looking to do something with a little less headaches / Employees. Any suggestions on areas that need help?

We have lived here for 28 years. My father works out of Torrence Ca
and commutes on the weekends.
My husband works out of Vegas and commutes daily.
I wish you luck.

It's 167 to Green Valley Station (the casino he is working on now)
Straight up the 95, takes just over 2 hours

I heard that most employers are racist. They don't like white people
either.
Sure you could work in town, but making $7 an hours just doesn't cut
it for our family.

I suggest trying to locate an application to the "ol' boys club" in town. they are very hard to get a hold of one and the politics are gay.
It seems to take about a year to get established but it is very "cliquey(sp)" at Havasu with the locals. Its almost kinda spooky and weird like the old horror movies. Not trying to discourage you from starting a business there but the town says it welcomes new businesses when in fact they do not.
The city is growing and a lot of the elders want to keep it like it was in the old days.
Havasu has its own set of rules when it comes to businesses,. Ever notice why there are no huge signs for stores when you come in on the 95.? City law states that a sign can only be a certain size(small) unless you are Macdonalds or someone with billions. There are a lot little quirks like this but I think if you go with the flow you will be able to start sumpin' here.
Good luck and go for it!
Dismounting soap box now.

Hard to say. Everyone thought it would slow down in So. Cal. It did slow down here but not completely done.
Could always become a PIMP for the BHC tweekers.

If you are a hard worker... and have a skill that is needed and most of all don't come into Havasu with the attitude that just cause you are from California you know it all - you will be ok.
We are a resort town so yes the average wage for those in the service industry is around 7 to 9 bucks an hour. However those that come into town and start a business that is needed and they are good at what they do - earn more friggen money then most in this town can comprend.
Havasu needs quality businesses - and yes we are clique'e.. Cause everyday people come into town and tell all of us we are doing it all wrong. And they never put their money where their mouth is......
So come on out and help our city grow.....

I know for a fact that the Post Office is begging people to work.
Goverment Job may not be for everyone but they don't start out at Havasu
average wage of $7 - $10 an hr.
They Start at $16 - $17 an hr.For the first year or two. Most regulars that have been with the Post office a couple years are making 50k-70k plus,The benifits are better than most,I think our Medical is $20 a month, plus cost of living increases, every holiday imagineable.
I have 2 friends that have recently opened business's one strictly Automotive
the other Boats & automotive. Both are swamped with work.

Welcome to Havasu...joke around town, "breath on glass" your hired. Way to make money, keep your day job. We lucked out, left the real world, have a lot with a "manufactured" home, killer view and a boat with a truck and a Ford Explorer...paid for. Want more info, ask the wife. Buyers market, twice as many homes as last year and there are 800 agents trying to work the deal. Lot of people keep a house here but keep the "day" job somewhere. We meet so many people in the channel and they all come from So Cal but have a place here. Point is...we live in tract 1082, manufactured homes. Paid $52,000 five years ago, view of the lake, valued at $182,000 now. Place across the street can be had for $140,000. No view...great neighbors, one works at Boeing in L.A. Wise advice...keep the day job, buy a little place, for the love of god, for what you could buy where we live, you would spend that much on a storage condo for the boat. Call my wife "missspent" at 928-208-2575...she's got the story. Half of our neighbors are LA Cops or Firefighters.

I myself proposed a few new businesses to the council in Lake Havasu. Nope, not here. Maybe some other time fellow. I put a lot of time, effort and money into my plan and presentations just to be shot down by the city. Elections are coming up and there may be some movement around there.
Anyone know a sue happy lawyer that can sue in Lake Havasu? I'm thinking about a $3,000,000 case. Pm me with a number for a shark of an attorney. It should make the front page of the local paper.
Uncle Larry-any suggestions? Want to go into the lawyer business? We could make some fun at the cities expense I'm sure.!!!

I've got 2 positions beginning Aug 1 in Havasu. Just purchased office space on Sweetwater on the S. side of town. I have a current add in the paper. It is an inside sales position starting at 12.00 per hour with a HUGE commission structure that HONESTLY pays well into 6 figures. We are a 3rd party logistics company.. Meaning we coordinate the movement of freight. I have received about 8 resumes and plan on talking with applicants next week. The applicants have been primarily from HR or administrative positions and I'm looking for solid inside sales reps --- Not order takers, but Sales Reps. This is a CAREER position, not just another job. Company in business 13 years, great reputation, great track record -- Honor, integrigy, hard worker, multi tasker.. Computer literacy and prior experience in the trucking industry would be dynamite ! Email Tom@onestoplogistics.net or Kirk@onestoplogistics.net or fax resume to 831 763-4293

All im saying is in L.A. the wife would walk into hospitals and walk out as the highest paid employee in her department. She would walk into hospitals not even hiring and have no openings and walk out with a job as the highest paid employee.
Now fast forward LHC hospital has four openings and they look at her like she has leprosy, an ice pick in one hand and a meth straw in the other...for months she tried to get a job in a postion that had 4 openings for a year.
if people dont find that rather odd, than I guess im the one who is clueless

I'm a SMT pick and place machine operator here in Havasu. We build electronic, surface mount circuit boards for lots of different vendors. It's a very technical job, but I love it. Been working there 3 years now. And a very nice view of the lake.

My sister in law moved there already and had to go through a head hunting company back east to get hired on. When they found out that she lived there they took her right in. Duh???,, She walked in to and had the same effect.

Adding to this, Dana and I went to Black Bear last week for dinner and met a guy from Austin,TX that was an RN. He tried on his own to get a position and ended up going through an outside deal and was hired within 2 weeks. Silly, but it works.

Kilrtoy and Mrs-we thought the town was a little bassakwards ourselves but didnt have anyone to corroborate(sp) similar stories. now I read your experience in Havasu, I'm convinced that it is a weird town out of the movies where alll the locals have a secret and they dont welcome no out o' towners.
kind like the walking into a saloon when the swinging door creaks and the whole bar stops and watches you walk in, then they turn their back on you. Im not that old, but I seen it in the movies. I think it was filmed in Havasu.

That is too funny, but so true, The wife applied for $5.15 an hour jobs and she wasnt good enough. I laugh, but then again it is very sad. LHC is losing out on a very skilled, High trained, qualified, caring person that would be an asset to the community.

I think I live across the street from this guy. So I must be a great neighbor. Ha Ha.
We just moved up here this year, my wife works for the water dept. and I work from home writing software for the aviation industry. Nice neighbors and place has gone up in value since we purchased our place two years ago.
What more could you ask for, Cost of living is nothing compared to cali. plenty of spare time to hit the lake during the week days and leave the lake to the crazy's on the weekend. So far as the local's go. Our mortgage brokers told us not to worry about being from cali, everyone up here is from cali or somewhere else. As business go, very easy to start my own company but all my clients our out of state.
Let me know if you need some computer help.
