After reading the article in "Todays News-Herald" I thought I would give everyone an update on the plane...It was a Sea Wind 3000 and was piloted by Robert Hemme and his son David age 17 the passenger. The way the story goes they took off from LHC airport to go to Big Bear and decided to do a few touch and goes over the lake (maybe Mr. Hemme knew something was wrong?). As it turned out they had some sort of electrical short and this caused a lot of smoke so they had to kill the power. They ditched the plane in the river just north of the mouth of the lake. The smoke was so thick that they both had to jump out of the plane...a boater came by and picked them up and vessal assist was there in time to keep the oil and gas from going down river. If anyone has any additional information, please share. I believe this was what we would call an "angel whatching over us".
Hope to see you in the channel this saturday
