I was under the impression that the forum software limited the size of images that could be put in a signiature? If it doesn't currently I think it's just an option they could click in the control panel? Be alot easier then all the mods having to police that?

I believe it has to do more with eating up the server's bandwidth... it's one reason the board runs so god damn slow sometimes and we get those stupid error messages... :idea: :rolleyes: :rollside:

Only images from the image center share the server's bandwidth. Most sigs I've seen come from elsewhere. It's not about bandwidth. I suspect it's more about not wanting to explain why someone hosting their own stuff can have a big picture while someone using the image center can't. It's easier to just disallow large pictures.

That would be nice if it was possible to limit the size of photos through the back office, but it is not an available option. You can easily limit items that are uploaded to the site (attachments), but a linked photo is hard to automatically monitor.

This is nothing to do with the 56k guys. It is everything to do with how hard it is to read a page when there is an 8X10 glossy re-posted every other post in a conversation. It makes the page very long and makes the thread ugly and hard to read.
