Ok, here is the deal. I have a 9 month old boy a very high rent in about a month and a truck payment to make. I need to get some breathing room! I need some work on the weekends and or evenings starting after 5pm. Im 21 and have been doing telecommunications on and off for 8 years now. 3 years full time. I have some expeirence in a photo shop and i have a valid DL but far from a good DL record. I live in Yorba Linda, CA. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance!
Justin

Department of Corrections maybe? It's a lot of babysitting, but the pay is good and you don't even have to have a driver's license, so the record won't be an issue. Excellent benefits, also.

Justin, it's refreshing to see a young person willing to work extra to take care of things. Being young with a family isn't easy, but it won't always be so tough. We were flat broke when our kids were little and had a little jetboat to have fun in. Just stay away from credit as much as possible. Thankfully, you have a good role model to help you make good financial decisions. :D Best wishes.

Trump this may not work for you, but my company is expanding and we need people yesterday. No experience needed $140 a day working on a offshore supply vessel. Captains and engineers are making $500 a day and up. The work is 28 days on 14 days off, there is travel pay as well. The work is in Louisiana and with 14 days off many people fly to and from. If anyone needs more info drop me a line, leave me a number and I will call you back.

Just for anyone interested, a deck hand or wiper, will only be painting, chipping, and tying up the vessel to the dock. We are not the crab fishermen that you see on Discovery Channel. All we do is take supplies to the oil rigs offshore, we spend half of our time at the dock. In the almost nine years I have been doing this I have only had one serious injury on my boat, it was a high ankle sprain. Yes, it can be dangerous, but the company (Edison Chouest Offshore) I work for has the best safety record in the industry. Yes, it is best for single people, but you don't need a degree and you don't need any experience to start. Anyone 18 or over in good health and with some drive to get ahead can make well over six figures a year in about five years, and you only work 2/3s of the year.
Sorry to sound like sales pitch, but we do need people and it is a good job.
I will be posting a thread looking for some parts for my 65 Lavey, that is why I sighed up for this sight, not to find people to go to work, sorry didn't want to hi-jack your thread.
Good luck on the job hunt! :rollside:

O.k. I've read this whole thread now..............I'm caught up.
T.T. sounds like maybe you need to sacrifice some extracurricular things like the river in times like these!!! Just until you find your other job. I would also suggest you try something like a blockbuster video, or grocery store. Or perhaps UPS. They have graveyard shifts as well.
Good luck!

Well Nord i have only made 2 trips to the river this year and one was for a family reunion.
Graveyard ships are out i currently work from generally about 8-4pm and have a lot of commitments during the week days.
My girlfriend and i have both started to make more money. I got a raise and she has gotten better shifts at Cocos. The money is more for breathing room. We have been having car issues and just replaced her transmission. Her car is having more problems now and we are also trying to pay it off before we move out in the next couple months. She owes about 2k so those are our main concerns and believe me i have cut down on spending!

TT I`m going to tell you something brutal, this is life, you decided to get a girlfriend and have a baby.Take the bull by the horns and do it, may be very difficult, but there is a saying you can raise your children or if things blow up you will be visiting you`re children.

WTF does that mean? He knows this and knows he has to work hard hence the looking to see if he can find a job in the evenings.
He didn't come on asking for a lecture...I have done plenty of that in his life.
You got a job for him or what?

I`d give him a job in a second if I had one to offer I would. This is not a lecture just seems to me has had offers and if they don`t fit might have to go to plan "B".This is the plain and simple fact.

Well I appreciate you laying out the facts for him....lol
So, what's plan B?
He is young and just trying to make his way thru life. Thanks for your concern

I`m thinking that if you have been lecturing as you call it,and we still have a problem here I can only guess how you will guide him.I`m not going back and forth of something so logical,he`s had suggestions, offers, etc and seems of no use to him.So I`m saying plan "B" My plan "B" would send you into Ballistic mode so feel best kept to myself.Good luck to both of you

I got the impression that he already has a job and is looking for a second one that he can work around his current job. He isn't willing to give up his "day job". Most of the jobs that I have seen offered have been during the same time as his current day job, hence, they won't work out for him.
Not all young people are lazy wanting everything handed to them. Many are, but not all. Seems like he's just wanting to put more work hours into his work week for a better life. Kudos Justin, that's the American way.

Actually I have tried to guide him for lifes twist and turns and prepare him for them. What he does with that is up to him now. Seems he is trying to do something positive.
He comes on here looking for a job that can fit in for him...you have nothing to offer other than advice....Why are you posting in this thread anyhow?
Ya, keep it to yourself. That's actually a good idea.
