Been lurkin for a few months now after doing a search on Havasu for a tournament. Seems like you all like to have some fun and it got me wondering what you all think of bass boats?
There are some nice looking boats on here (not to mention other...........uh....unmentionables). :-).
My name is Terry, I'm originally from Huntington Beach CA (1964 to 1993) and now I live in Idaho.

I assume you're talking about Water Turds (jet skis)? Lake Lice is a better name for them......I do have to agree.
Thanks for the welcome.
So, gimme some real number os speeds your boats run. Obviously I have an outboard. 20-foot BassCat with a Merc 250XS. Decent but not no 100 mph boat......
Thanks for the welcome.

Overpriced. But if I were buying one, it would be a Ranger with every option I could afford, and a 4 stroke.

I'm curious, how much do you guys pay for insurance on them Skeeter's, Bass Trackers and Nitro's, especcially the ones that can run an honest 75-80 mph ????
I've seen some Bullets and Allisons supposedly running over 100

live wells of a bass boat are very large... and can easily be converted into very large coolers to hold a lot of beer. :rollside:
therefore never shun a bass boat.. he may have more cold beer than you.... :crossx:

Well, I like'em! BassCats are very nice. I have only ridden in Champions and Rangers, but I have seen some BassCats.
One thing I learned, don't chase ducks! They tend to make quite a mess when you hit them at 60 MPH :yuk:

Been working all day and don;t have much time to post until night. I'll try to answer questions......
I have a Bass Cat. 2006 with a Merc 250XS. The boat is a true 76+ mph boat on GPS at sealevel with 52 gallons of fuel, two guys and all of our tackle. Get rid of the second guy, go light on tackle and run with 15 gallons of fuel and maybe it'll do 78 to 80 on the right water with the right prop. Last year's boat ran a little slower with the Merc 225 ProXS. Best run was at the Delta loaded light at 76.7 mph GPS.
Strokers, Allisons, Bullets are the speed demons of bass boats. All have logged speeds over 100 mph with Allison and Bullet holding the bass boat speed records in the 120s. Fast in any boat. :-) There're a couple of sites that have the record posted but I can't remember the URLs off the top of my head.......
By the way, someone asked where in ID I live. I'm in SE Idaho about 80 miles from Yellowstone. Not the best bass fishing area in the world but we make it to SoCal twice a year for 4-5 weeks to fill that jones. Plus I have the entire Snake River to play in while here.
I think that was all the questions....Thanks for the response all. :-) You have a great site here.

Nothing personal, but I will take lake lice over bass boats anyday. To me they are just overpowered lake lice that go twice as fast. More people hurt or killed this year on Havasu by BASS boats

I love bass boats.
... particularly when they are full fairing with center console, coffin hatch, and the only rigging is a five point harness, fuel cell, nitrous bottle, alcohol cooling spray, and a 9 volt transistor battery for cranking.

Is that a fact or a made-up statistic? I'd like to see the real statistic of water deaths this year across the US and see which type was #1. I did hear of one accident this year with a bass baot that killed (I think) three people. But, which driver was at fault?
Not to Dis you Warlockjer, I'd just like to know the real answers.
By the way, most all bass boat owners run their boats a short percentage of the day. The rest of the day is spent fishing. Water turds, lake lice or whatever you wanna call'em run all day long -- and they aren;t the safest people operating on the water. That's my opinion of course. :-)

Tater, not to diss you either but I lived on the Calif delta for many years. A lot of fishing tournaments going on there. I have had more close calls and a friend put up on the levee by a bass boat. He knew what he had done and didn't even stop to help. I guess it was more important getting to the next fish than seeing what kind of damage he had just caused. There are bad in all groups...Havasu has many tournaments also and I know we have to share the lake, but common courtsy on everyones part would help :) :)

sorry dog

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that it's gonna be a little more congested on the lake when a few hundred boats show up for a tournament... Give them their day and go somewhere else... at least you have that option. Lake lice are annoying EVERYDAY... :yuk:

Lake lice suck!!! Except for the stand up jetskis. It actually takes some skill to ride one of those. I give them credit. Any 10 year old girl can ride a sit down to 70mph!!!
