Check out this video of a couple of 41' Apache's in huge seas. I saw this on OSO and had to share it over here.

What power and drives were those guys using back in the dayz? betcha they weren't using bravos :220v:
That race boat has got to weigh in at > 10k lbs.

Thats when they realy raced offshore at least 70 to 100 miles out in the ocean having to navigate a ploted course with check points not the lap races the do now. Ben Kramer , driver of the appache was arrested for drug smuggling and sentenced to 16 years. In a bold move to escape he had a helecopter land in the prison to pluck him out but it failed.He got more time for that. I don't know if he ever got out.

damn!!! that is just awesome!! that has got to be one of the best offshore boat vidz i have ever seen! some of those jumps were just sic. reminds me of robbie gordon goin HUGE out in glamis off 100 foot sand dune jumps. i would like to see a cat try and keep up with that boat for 100 miles in that water, lol

Back from the day what an offshore race really meant "offshore" and not some bay or lake. :)
Hard to beat the ol Apaches in those conditions.

Isn't that the truth. They were as hard core as it gets. How many boats could handle that stuff and spin in the end of the video and keep driving?

Wow. That's some of the biggest air and best throttle work I've ever seen.
Note to self: buy a 41' Apache someday. That hull definitely handles the rough stuff.
