I was thinking about hitting the old stomping grounds and head out to Kathrins Landing for a weekend and was curious about the launch line wait time. How long is the wait now?

Launching on the weekends is a nightmare…
We launched both Sat and Sun at 7:00am and waited only about 10-15 minutes, however when we got out of the water at 9:00pm (both nights) we waited about 2 hours on Sat an hour on Sun to retrieve the boat.
People were civil in the morning but the alcohol and heat had taken it’s toll by night fall and there were idiots everywhere.
The lake lice were everywhere clogging the ramp and dock taking literally 30 minutes to get their crap and ski loaded…this was after their tow vehicle had waited hours in line.
Have fun.

I've waited an hour on a Saturday before... :crossx: I hear that 7:30am and before should get you right on the water..

That's telephone cove. I haven't launched there in over a year, but hadn't heard it was closed. Watch out for the holes! You'll need 4x if you get stuck in one.
We launched late (10a) on Sun. in about 30 min., and retrieved at 5p in about 45min. Not too bad.

Last week I inquired about Telephone Cove at the pay station, I heard a rumor it was paved… WRONG
It’s still a dirty, bumpy road and the ramp is STEEP.

So if I have a f250 v10 4x4 launching a 22' deep v, I should be fine.
I hate waiting in line. I remember when I used to go there and it was a 30 min wait at 8am. Again, that was 19 years ago.

It's always bad,, all the time in the summer.
Go to Cottonwood, launch before 9 AM.
Like Launching from the most excellent place in the bahamas,, like ya died and woke up in boaters heaven.
Worth the drive up there.

That place is a nightmare. Plan on dinner and drinks in the restaurant until way late.....

Launch before 7:30 and you are okay. Pull out before 1:30 and you are okay. Otherwise........There is Cottonwood. But besides telephone cove in the dirt you can drive over the dirt road to Princess Cove. Telephone Cove I wouldn't do with anything bigger than a 21 max. Telephone Cove I've never launched at but looks nice from the water just steep. The only drawback it really looks like is that you have to tow over the dirt road and get everything all dirty. But 10 minutes cleaning up to save 2 hours in line is worth it to me.

I used to launch my 19' jet there (telephone cove). Minimal to no line, just dirt. I don't think I'd launch a 22' deep v, there. Some might. I wouldn't just cause it seemed to always change, and times you would have to drive deeper to float the boat, then you run the risk of finding one of those holes. I've never seen that dirt ramp steep, but again it's been over a year. Just my .02. Dont' tell anyone, but Cottonwood is becoming more and more the better option on a weekend. Princess is the one that I think looks steep. Never launched there.

it was about 15 years ago me and a few bud's were there drinking early in the morn. I kept nagging at them to go bare foot skiing. It was behind a 32' Pachanga. To make a long story short, endend up losing my shorts, shoes, and skipping accross the lake and no one driving the boat because they were on the floor laughing.

You can launch before 8 and be fine. But I mean BEFORE, not AT. Seems like everyone sits at the casinos and decides to meet at 8. Just launch early and park in the courtesy dock and have breakfast at the marina restaurant.
Retrieving? Yeah, 3-9 is the busy time. It could be a 1-3 hour wait depending on how you hit it.
Also, if you stay in the hotel at Katherine, they guarantee you a slip and you can launch when you get there at 10 or 11 pm and leave it in until you leave. We usually pull out around midnight on Saturday night and there is NO ONE on the ramp. You can take a cab into the casinos.
Disclaimer: the hotel at Katherine is no 5 star resort, we just joke about that. :D

Katherine's Landing is ridiculous. Last time there, the pick up line was about 2-3 hours so we just took off for a while longer on the lake and came back and had dinner at the restaurant. I used to launch my 23' out of Telephone Cove and never had any problems. I've launched out of Princess Cove with the 23' a couple of times. The long drive on the dirt road sucks, but the wait doesn't. After the last trip on Mohave, I've been launching in Needles and playing on the river.

As stated above before 8am but retrieving will be a nightmare, you will be fine at Telephone Cove, I had to retrieve there once (25ft Tremor) no problem with a 4x4.
Princess Sucks and the dirt road will screw up your trailer and truck (rocks will pit the trailer).

The hotel there is fine, for sure is no 5 star. But its what you do with it to make it a 5 star. I saw a incredible meteor shower there one night, it was crazy.
Is the resurant still called the "whale of the tale"? We knew the bartender there until he died, I think he comitted suicide.

Personally, I have had it with Katherine’s. The lice there are absolute idiots.  As for Cottonwood Cove…I am ashamed to admit I have never launched there and worse, I don’t even know how to get there. However because of the previous post stating it’s only 45 min. away, I will be heading there next time. :crossx:
OK, here are the dumb questions Re: Cottonwood Cove…
Do they have a Marina?
Do they have a store? (for ice, beer, water etc)
Do they have a restaurant? (like at Katherine’s)
And….the biggest dumb question, how do you get there…from the casinos…
Thanks!!!

oh, and one more question, Is it paved the whole way and is the ramp cement or dirt? :rollside:

No Marina, not even a dock
No store, just one broken vending machine
No restaurant, again just the one broken vending machine
It's a dirt road all the way from the casinos, don't drive it ! you will get your truck
and boat real dirty

LOL
Yes, there's a marina, but I don't know about a marina store.
There is a restaurant, but it's not like Katherine's. More like Topoc without the bar.
Paved road, make a right at Searchlight.
The water sucks up there though. I wouldn't go. Plus, there are gangsters everywhere. :D

Yes, there is a store, it has snacks, drinks, alcohol, ice cream, fishing supplies, suntan lotion etc.
If you eat in the restaurant get the margaritas (if the machine is working) or at least some soft serve ice cream!

Launch out of Telephone; it is worth it. Launched a 23 all the time with no problems. Parking is better and usually not much of a wait. Yes it is a dirt road but that is what water and soap is for. :rollside:

Dont do it. Dont go to cottonwood. You will never get your boat out of the water. Could be up to a 9 hour wait to get out of the water. And the one vending machine had ant's in all the candy the last time we were there.

I get it. Mohave sucks ass. Dont go there. Your boat might sink? I think I heard that there is a lot of alagators there, and they are expecting a earth quake sometime soon.
By the way is that no tooth gas guy still at the marina up north at _________ marina. I forgot the marina thats the farthest north. He was a cool guy but just never had any teeth.
