The electric bill was one of the many reasons I left cali. So far this summer my highest electric bill was $68.00 and that's with running the air 24 hrs a day. My winter bill average's around 20 bucks a month.

The $176 was the year after we did the 650 sf addition, and hadn't yet replaced the circa 1976 3 ton A/C with the heat strips. Damn thing ran nearly 24/7 in the summer just to keep below 80.
The $110 was early on when I was overly anal about lights, thermostat settings, etc.
Now have a 4 ton heat pump, programmable stat and decided comfort is more important than money.

Solar elect is the easiest homeowner project you can think of.
Just a simple 2 or 3 wire drop to the service (meter)
If I ever move to the River, it'll be solar elect for sure, and everything will be A/C from the garage, the dog house,, everything,, even the storage shed.
Even charge the Golf Cart Free.
You can do it yourself 1/3 the cost of contractors.
Have the power company change out the meter/service to accomodate it, put um up, run your wires. Done deal.
Really simple.
I have a Toyota electric at work with solar charging and it is tits.

Here at the ranch (home)- $1000.00 plus a month during the summer. That has part to do with having wells for water. We don't have a water bill, so that helps a bit.
Havasu- about $150.00
Ultra- over $4,000 a month for all the buildings during the summer.
I still walk around turning off lights when the kids leave them on (like it's really going to make a differance).
OUCH!!! That hurts!! I thought our $600.00 hit last month was bad!

07-26-2006, 09:46 PM
This month it's high $94.32, that's running the AC 24/7, @ 73-74. Most of the time it's about $65-72 in the summer months.

not becuase of that, but wifey if prego and i wanted and excuse to buy a new boat next season, your boat would be great if the timing were right i would go for it, but got a new one due in 4 weeks and no boat time right now.
buying big house is much like a bigger boat, it cost more to maintain and fill with what it runs on and everyone parties and leaves you to clean it up!
plus have you ever tried to furinsh that much at once.... holy sh*t...i had no clue

$103. for just two weekends a month........Working on the Solar setup.
I dont know why more people aren't doing it with almost 50% rebates on the overall purchase and installation price, plus the tax write offs.
Ours would be done already but I'm a cheap ass doing the work myself and contractor buddy will bill me out at 60k 30k rebate total cost less than 30k minus my labor, and that will include a 20kw genset just in case.
