This is what the local Ford dealer estimate was for parts and labor to replace one side upper and lower on ball joints my 1997 2wd f150!!! Holy H. Phuck! Are people really willing to pay that much? I just replaced all four of them myself in my driveway for $230 in lifetime gauranteed parts and it took me all of about 2 hours. Looks like I need to get back into the automotive service business.

the upper ball joints are so easy to do on that truck! We blew one out on mine, and went and bought moog it came with the whole a-arm, and joint with a zert fitting for grease for 60.00

... the local Ford dealer ...
Oh yes, I see the problem.
You wouldn't believe what my Dad paid to have his exhaust on his F150 replaced by a dealer. Of course, he had to have the dealer do it because, "there's sensors and shit in there." :D

Yep moog control arms grease fittings and and all is what I got. Looked sturdier than the Ford Parts actually, and you can actually grease them! That cracks me up about the sensors. Sounds like something my dad would say.

I love my Dad but he paid a $2500 dealer tax on his exhaust system. It's like he thought the jobbers wouldn't have seen an F150 with fuel injection before. :D
It doesn't help that our dealer told him there were no other options.
I've gotta stand by my pops, though. He hangs in there with me when I do my dumb ass shit so I gotta follow suit.

Tell me about it. I had an F150 and a guy I thought was my friend ended went behind my back and did the ball joints before I had a chance.

Take out the word "ended" and that just about makes sense.

Dude that's messed up you would loose a friend over some ball joints. You can always find some new balls. But friends are forever. Hell if one of my buds gets new ball joints, there will probably be four or five of us that have hit that shit within a month. Sometimes we'll tag team the ball joints, one of us does the upper and one the lower. :D

The thought was not entirely coherent when I hastily constructed that near sentence.

I hope you can laugh about the reference, ACG.

They might be using the old flat rate time. The original time was way to much. Ford did come out and cut the time in half. You can press both lowers and change both upper a arms in less than an hour. BTW that includes driving it on and off the rack.
