That must be some dog, those things are usually pretty tough, my kids have dropped theirs many times and they still work fine. It may be worth calling Nintendo repair and see if they can help:

Also, if you used a CC to buy it, it may be worth a call to the credit card company and see if they offer any type of replacement insuranace, a lot of credit cards used to offer this as a benefit, don't know if they still do.
As for used ones EB Games / Gamestop has used ones for $59.99:

But be aware the newer ones (graphite and light blue colored) have a much brighter screen colors, if it were me I would spend the extra $20 on a new one to get the better display. I bought one of the newer ones from Target recently for $79.99 and they threw in a free game with it, so check the weekly ads for any deals like that too.

for the kids games, and here I thought I was doing a good thing
