I need new tires for a 2002 2500 Silverado Crew 2 wheel drive. A guy at the local tire store recommended Bridgestoned Dueler 285/75 16's. I have stock rims and never go off road, although all-terrain tires will probably work and look the best. The truck is a daily commuter vehicle, no heavy duty use.
Any recommendatons or preferences?

Put the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor (AT's) on the Chevy Avalanche. They are great. Nice ride and quiet. Great off road if you ever need it. Even though I do 98% street it's nice to have a tough tire. The AT's come in P or LT. Not to be confused with the Wrangler Silent Armor Futura. I got the P as I only tow 6,000 Lbs and the ride is better.
I have BFG AT's on the land cruiser which is used 90% off road. Great off road but not too good of a ride in the LT's

Try this link to another SPAM thread. I am sure Travis would like to hear from someone with cash now. These tires and the wider rims should be just what you need!

Although I should know this I DON'T..... Find out the width of the rim and then call and ask a tire shop the range a say 285/75/16 tire should have for a rim.... If my memory serves me correct the stck rim is to skinny for a 285 tire.... Be smart especially if your towing....

Thanks Jay, I'll take a look. I was just at Selman today, I should have stopped by, my bad.
I only tow maybe 5,000 to 6,000 max, for now anyway.

The stock wheels are only 6.5 wide. The book say's 7.5 to 9.0 285's will fit but not a good choice for towing. I,m a b/s dealer and the a/t on all of the turbo d's are only getting 20k for miles, thus is why b/s droped the 50k warranty. If you can live with 265's, F/S transforse a/t are the best bang for the buck. Michlen LXT m/s will runs the miles but lacks in the traction. The F/S have been gitting on average 60-70k and i have seen 100k on a 4x4 cumings. Just my 2c

I agree 285/75's are a little wide for that stock rim. I had the BFG a/t's on the white truck below on stock rims and they wore the center's out fast, still got 40k miles but could have gotten more. They towed fine and had great wet traction but liked to pick up little rocks and through them at the sides of the truck at 50mph and up
I like the Toyo A/T's and have heard nothing but good things. Look into a 265/75R16. Or go with a set of aftermarket wider rims. There's a good thread in the Tow Rig section about "Biggest tire that fits" or something.

I have had the BFG's A/T 285/75/16 on my stock Silverado rims for over a year now with no problems. I towed my 18' boat and a standup jestki in the bed, the boat with trailer dry weighs 3600lbs plus the coolers and camping gear and I never had a problem.
