great color. That thing should be fun.
My wife just bought an older Cabriolet and it's been fun to cruise with the nice weather. Also gets like 35 mpg, much better than our excursion.
Keep sharing the pics!

Nice ride.
I built two speedsters in 91-92, it was pretty fun.
They run real good, even with low power those things are light. Looks like you won't have that problem though.
You strengthened the pan a little I hope. I have seen them crack right through the parking brake area with fiberglass bodies.(Myers Manx and speedster)
I dig the old school no chrome doghouse. Fits the car perfectly.
The 2332 is going to be hard pressed to breathe well though the stock heater boxes.
Just trying to help out a fellow VW enthusiast.

whats a heater box?
I'll bite,
The heater box is the grey part of the exhaust bolted to the header.
Air from the engine's cooling fan is routed through the heater box to provide heated air to warm the interior of the car for those chilly California days.
Which now I am confused, the ducts in the fan shroud were blocked off.

So are you planning on using a heater or what? If you are not, do your 2332 a favor and pick yourself up some J tubes.

Brain as Shadow (Darryl) will tell u im just a dumb CPA
have no mechanial sense whats so ever
ill ask Jps about the heater. If you are asking if the car has a heater the answer is yes

Focker
08-28-2006, 08:02 AM
oh I remember him saying that because they do not use the original pan they create a heater setup for it. I was asking where the heater knobs were as in the 63 vw my father owned it had a white turn knob by the stick shift and the 68 he owned had levers by the hand brake

Ok then. If you have a heater, then you need the heater boxes.
I still gotta ask why would you need a heater in So Cal?

thats easy,
you usually never have the top up on these cars as it is very difficult to see out the book or the sides. So you use the top in rain only. If you want to drive the car on a cold day you can crank the heater up. also on a hot day you keep the top down but the ac on

Yes.
I had 45mm Dellortos on my 2 liter, I reused them from my 1914-2275. I had those carbs for 6 or 7 years, they had always worked well, and honestly I didn't really want to spend the coin on new carbs. $800 for two carbs?
Sheesh
When I finally got talked into 48 IDF's(not IDAs), I couldn't believe the difference.
Best thing I ever did to that motor.
Well worth the money spent.

Seems like a weekend play car that will never get driven in inclement weather anyway.

IDA's are HUGE.
Now THAT would be a completely different motor.

It was jetted fat. Lots of the off road peeps run that carb, very dependable, not temperemental like duals.

A single is the way to go, but not many carbs to choose from.
What a switch though, IDA's are a whole 'nother animal.
I love the sound of properly set up duals.
I ever had any problems with my duals. The linkage has to be spot on though.
I made some cool bearing ends for the hex rod. Worked bitchen.
