Not the same band after Dave left.

I have been a Van Halen fan forever. One of my top 3 all time favorites. Dave is my boy and that era is untouchable. But i gotta give Sammy some props. He's a better singer than dave and the songs they did that are good--are really good. The problem is, they have more lame-ass songs that are just weak. They got soft. I've seen Sammy and I've seen Dave and they both are fun as hell to watch and listen to. I don't think I've heard one song with Gary Cherone. Did they do anything that rocks?
Youtube has a 4 part interview with Dave. It's a classic. I spent 3 nights last week surfing YouTube for Halen shit. Then the follwoing 3 nights surfing Zeppelin stuff. That site is incredible.

Blah, blah, blah.
Can't people just appreciate them both? In my opinion, they are 2 seperate bands and they both rocked. BTW, Sammy rocked before VH, during VH, and after VH. Can't say the same for Mr. ego or is it Mr. Hairplugs or is it Mr. Combover?

Never heard anything with Cherone but speaking of him "Warheads" is another great song:

I turned on VH when Dave left & never gave Sammy a chance even though I was a huge Sammy fan as a solo artist. I've been going back & listening to a lot of their stuff now & there is a lot of good but there's some crap too. I read somewhere that one big fight Dave & Eddie had was that Eddie wanted to use keyboards & Dave was totally against it, so don't blame Sammy for everything that happened after Dave left - a lot of that was Eddie's influence.

So are you saying that the crappy keyboard songs ocurred after Dave left?
What about Jump? I thought that was one of the worst VH "hits" ever. Full of keyboard, lame lyrics, etc.
IMHO, Early Dave (Running w/t/d, VHII) was awesome but I thought they were weak toward Dave's end. I feel that Sammy reinvigorated the band.
Oh well, it's good :rollside: we're arguing about the REALLY important stuff instead of some lame Israel-Lebanon "skirmish".

I totally agree with you.
