Same here. Youz guyz were a pleasure to be around. Especially since Beer-30 was out of commission. It felt so weird going out there w/o boat. You guys (well, Wade anyway) made the day by giving rides :D

Just shy of rev-limit with 28.

you think wrong...the 26 IS the answer...think about it...he needs to pick up 1,000 RPM. 1 prop size does not equal 1,000 RPM under any real world conditions.

Wow. I didn't know he was a full 1K low. It will be close, then. Maybe a happy-medium labbed 28.

Try em both see what you think. If you still feel like needing a little more than the 28, I have a labbed 29 I can part with.

Matt I don't think the 29 is even in the ball park...the boat is turning 4500 in a "reasonable" time frame, may go up 100 or so if left wide open for a couple miles...no exaggeration.

Both sweet boats.
Since neither can pack air like a DCB I imagine your estimate is pretty close. :crossx: ;)
<------- would love to make a 27' walk through shadow or the 26' Deck my next boat:D
Is the deck lighter than the 27?(They seemed to get good numbers out of the HO on the first one)

6-8 mph depending on who's driving. 3-5 for sure. Use the 28 and trim up one click when your starting to plane out. 28 will work just fine, should get you 5000 with 4 peeps in moderate chop. 26 WILL be too small a prop for that boat. I have one more trick up my sleeve also..

Depending on what interior and how much stereo :crossx: Ultra's 26 deck is definately lighter than their 27'. Most of it comes from the shorter side walls or whatever they're called in boat jargon

Shadow's typically run 82-83 IN THE HAVASU HEAT...so you are saying the Venom is gonna touch 90? Bring it...for the record, I call BS. Sorry  :(
lets throw the Jeff Bohn school of boat set up right out the window and get back to reality...the 525 has a rev-limit of 5400 so why prop the boat to run well short of that. Give me a break, with all that prop the boat rolls over, and accelerates SO SLOW that I will be half-way to the sandbar by the time it starts to catch up :220v: It better have some serious closing speed...hell its only 25 miles to Topock :crossx:
5,000 with 4 peeps? What about fuel? 10 gallons?
How will it run with 5 people and full tanks??
Tell ya what Jay I will fill both my tanks this weekend (100 gallons) and bet that I still run 78-79 with my under-propped and much heavier Shadow...
It ain't all about the big #...driveability needs to count for something. I'm sure it does to most people? Otherwise Kilrtoy would probably run 34's year round :220v: Hell, the boss' 36' is turning 17.5X35's let's put one on the Venom and see if it will roll over :220v:

Based on the chat I had with JW when I ordered the 26 Deck he is expecting the weight to come in around 3600. Going to an resin infusion molding process that will get the weight to 3600 to 3400. Heading to Ultra tomorrow, so if I get different numbers I will let you know.

the same one that in the Extreme boats ad says 70mph with 496 MAG 83,900
also the same boat that is at Savage Marine (last I was there...) getting a power upgrade. I heard something about Ilmor?? That should be SWEET

Ok, ok, easy now. Don't make me put you boys in separate corners.
Facts are facts. Load it with full fuel, 4 or 5 peeps, anchor, ropes, vests, ice chest(s), fire extinquisher and find what prop works best. The speed is whatever the speed is.
If I gutted mine, ran 10 gals of gas, took the interior out, extra battery, stereo, towels, oar, etc., I could probably spin a 26 and get 5 more mph. But that's not how the boat runs. It runs great with a 22, full fuel, stereo, vests, extinguisher, 8 peeps, 3 ice chests and full interior. 60 or so is what I get. So, 60 it is.

I am quite certain Wade is happy with the boat. I doubt he whole-heartedly believed the 30P would stay on the boat. We all know what a mid-sized peformance cat is gonna turn out with a 525. Sure, we all want to see more mph, but like I said - whatever speed you get it dialed to is what you're gonna get.
Until more HP, that is. :)

Hey guys, keep something in mind, I know what the 260 can do and does do. What I am doing is driving to Havasu this weekend to bring Wade a prop to try out and spending my time to do it. There is a huge difference between Cobra employees and any other builders employees. I DO spend my personal time to make sure that our boats do what we say they will. It is sad that this all started because we put the wrong prop on a boat. WOOPEEE! Get over it. Someone (Dan) better have a cold one waiting for me when I get there.

See you guys on Sat Morning.
Thats very cool of you to deliver like that  I've got one for ya if you hang out long enough to collect it...heck, I still owe you guys some from hooking us up at the LA show
Otherwise, check my fridge, there should be some, and that is where Wade is staying...
ps I know some other builders and employees that go way out of their way to help customers out...I'm sure you're familiar with the name John West? Mike/Holly Brambilla? Barry Diehl? Dave Hemingson, Mike Willen, etc??

You got it Bruda, We'll do a run or two with Wades and then we'll be around for a while. We're meeting up with some folks a little later, but we'll meet up before the end of the day.
See you then.

I agree with all that, But when was the last time one of their employees did it on his own time. Get the picture??
Wade and Denise are my customers as much as Cobra's and I treat them as if they were mine alone. I think all builders emloyees should look at it the same way as I do, some do, but normally they don't.

I hear ya, and treating them as if they are not just a customer, but your only customer  That is awesome. Also exactly how I've been treated by Ultra...from John helping me change a tire in front of their shop, hanging out 3 hours after they close to deliver the boat to me, the receptionist/main get things done person down there Holly delivering my drive to Havi after my little mishap during Desert Storm :220v: Heck I could go on here for days but point being you're absolutely doing the right thing, see ya out there

OK now boys, I think we all have this speed thing figured out. We have what we have... some more than others. We run what we brung, and we are all still brothers. If money was no object, my boat would say Miss Budweiser, and try to catch me... Rest in Peace, Bernie.
